Co-creation of a digital platform for peer support in a community of adolescent and young adult patients during and after cancer
CONCLUSION: Co-creating tools for support together with AYAs ensures relevance and usability. A secure digital platform for peer support represents a complement to other existing forms of support. The presence of moderators was found to enhance security. Further development of the platform's log-in procedure is necessary.PMID:38663139 | DOI:10.1016/j.ejon.2024.102589 (Source: European Journal of Oncology Nursing)

Sex-specificity in Surgical Stages of Lung Cancer in Young Adults
CONCLUSION: Our study identified sex differences in the incidence and mortality rates for surgical lung cancers in young adults, but the biological and endocrine mechanisms implicated in these disparities have not yet been determined.PMID:38660429 | PMC:PMC11041390 | DOI:10.2174/18743064-v17-230818-2022-20 (Source: Open Respiratory Medicine Journal)

Toward identification and intervention to address financial toxicity and unmet health ‐related social needs among adolescents and emerging adults with cancer and their caregivers: A cross‐cultural perspective
ConclusionYounger AYAs and their caregivers experience significant financial challenges and unmet health-related social needs during cancer treatment and often rely on key supports to alleviate these unmet needs. When developing interventions to mitigate financial toxicity, clinicians and health systems should prioritize clear, consistent, and tailorable approaches to support younger AYA cancer survivors and their families. Cancers, Vol. 16, Pages 1644: Diffuse Gliomas with FGFR3::TACC3 Fusion: Morphological and Molecular Features and Classification Challenges
In conclusion, diffuse gliomas with FGFR3::TACC3 fusion do not constitute a distinct nosological entity, owing to their genetic and epigenetic diversity. Further studies are warranted to clarify the biological aggressiveness of tumors with low-grade histology to refine the grading and determine the optimal treatment strategy. (Source: Cancers)

Pursuance of a Yoruba name for cervical cancer in Southwest Nigeria: a case study
CONCLUSIONS: There was no consensus Yoruba name for cervical cancer among the study participants. Efforts to educate the Yoruba speaking populace about cervical cancer, its prevention, management and participation in its research can be frustrated if a generally accepted Yoruba name is not provided for this cancer. Stakeholders' collaboration is required to get an appropriate Yoruba name for cervical cancer.PMID:38658005 | DOI:10.1136/bmjopen-2023-074020 (Source: Cancer Control)
