TrueLearn QBank Advice
I’m a PGY2 anesthesiology resident in Canada. I’m not intending to write the ABA exams, but I’m interested in purchasing the question bank for learning/studying purposes. Of the basic, advanced, and in-training question banks, which would you recommend? I am looking for one that would be applicable to daily clinical cases and also reinforce key concepts for the board exam in the future. Thanks so much in advance! (Source: Student Doctor Network)

International Students who have gone through the US F-1 Visa Interview
I will be doing the interview around June-July in Toronto, Canada before school starts in August. I have a couple of questions regarding the process. 1- What kind of questions do I expect? Most importantly, if they ask if I plan on going back home after graduation, What do I say considering that we have to do residency for 3 years? Because in this case I would have to say that I plan on staying after graduation for residency 2- I have applied to dental schools and after 4 months I applied... Canada vs. US for Residency?
Somewhat specific question but hoping to get some thoughts on the situation. I'm a MS4 at a med school here in the US I'm planning on applying to a surg specialty for residency. I'm taking a research year currently but will be submitting an ERAS (+/- Carms) app in 2024. I decided to do med school here in the US as I'd been living here for awhile (undergrad in US) and thought it made the most sense to continue my med ed here state side to make the most out of it. I made the mistake of... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

U of Saskatchewan vs NYU (Urgent and Any input greatly apprecaited!)
Hello! I am a Chinese international student with no Canadian permanent residence nor US green card, but I will be qualified to apply for Canada PR by the end of May 2023. My scholarship from NYU justifies the living cost of living in Manhattan. I pay the same amount of money regardless I attend NYU or U of Saskatchewan. I came back from the U of Saskatchewan learning the following: U of Saskatchewan has the highest amount of clinical experience than all other Canadian schools. (Just like... UChicago Pritzker (half-tuition) vs Yale (no aid) with a Canadian twist
Hi all! I've been blessed to have received multiple offers from some really amazing schools this cycle and I've narrowed it down to these two: UChicago and Yale. I was also accepted at Boston University and UVA, but neither gave me any aid so they are probably off of the table. To give you a bit of context about my priorities and aspirations, I have a strong feeling I want to pursue academic medicine and potentially competitive specialties like CT surgery. I also have a pretty strong... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

DUI before residency
Here I am asking strangers on a forum for advice/information on a stupid mistake that I regret every day. "Tell me about a time where you made a mistake". So I am a non-US IMG that was charged end of 2019 in Canada for a DUI. My BAC was almost double and I was involved in a collision (no injuries). Because of covid, the courts are backed up and I have no idea if the charges will be dropped or when the trial will be. My lawyer joked and said maybe not in 5 years. I have been sober since... For those who took equivalency exam for Canada (ndeb), how long did it take for your guys to get your documents verified? On the website it says it takes up to 18 weeks to get verified. I am Canadian with dental degree on foreign country, will that make document verification little faster? I pray it does.. (Source: Student Doctor Network)

What Canadians need to know for Caribbean medical school - AMA
Hello. I'm a Canadian who studied in Ireland and matched back to Canada. I wanted to write this post because I have family members who are currently studying at a Caribbean medical school. I have also spoken to other Caribbean students in the past. I have family members and friends that have studied medicine in Ireland, Scotland, UK and Australia. Thus, I have a fairly good understanding of how Caribbean medical schools compare to the UK, Scotland, Australia and Ireland. This is advice that... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

CCFP EM as a uk doc with an MRCGP
I’m about to qualify as a gp from the uk and want to move to Canada (probably Ontario but open) I’ve read about the added competencies for family doctors and I would be interested in the future of applying to do the CCFP EM CAC after working for a couple of years and getting used to the Canadian medical system. Would I be eligible to apply assuming I have PR at that point? And how competitive would it be? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Ontario Med Schools - Where to Focus for Upcoming Applications?
Hi everybody, I'm a non-traditional applicant in Ontario, Canada. I've just determined that I want to make the jump and apply for med school. I have a science undergrad and a Bachelors of Education, and I've worked as a teacher and a tutor for the past two years in Ontario. I'm looking for advice about where to spend my limited time leading up to this year's applications. From my understanding, there's about 5 months until applications. I have a pretty strong GPA; my undergrad was 3.94 and... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

WAMC: GPA 3.4 and MCAT 518
Edited WAMC: cGPA = 3.4 (from previous biochemistry + spanish degree). My current degree (nursing), my GPA = 4.0. MCAT score = 518. CARS = 127. Rest was roughly the same, give or take 1. Last time I took the Casper (a year ago) I got the top quartile. I am confident I can practice more for the new video portion next time to maintain that! I am Canadian and American. I was born in Southern California, but moved to Canada when I was little and am Canadian now. I go to... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)
