How to be competitive for residency as an international student?
Just finished my first semester of first year and obtained a 3.77 gpa, i anticipate to be around the top 10% of class based on talking to my classmates. Are good grades enough to get a good residency? I'm from Canada and plan on doing my residency somewhere in Michigan, preferably detroit or nearby cities. Any tips on what I should do from here? I'm not a leadership kind of student, never liked being in clubs or lead one. I've yet to compile a list of international friendly residency... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Dear firends whatever your political beliefs are , this thread is meant only as warning to all to avoid social media posts. Whatever happens to this young doctor, we must remember that a slightly misinterpreted social media posts can hurt. Im my personal opinion Dr. Yoni Freedhoff the complaining physican went wayy overboard to try and destroy a young physician's life. https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/ottawa/university-ottawa-doctor-suspended-palestine-petition-1.7034464 (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Remediation and residency impact
I’m a first year DO student who is interested in either neurosurgery or neurology. I failed my physiology course and have to remediate it. I’m also considered an international student because I’m from Canada. I’m super concerned for how badly this remediation can impact my chances of getting residencies in my areas of interest. How can I work to improve and possible help make the situation less concerning? I’d really appreciate all the advice. (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Also currently doing a research project in dental school but not sure if it will be published. Have numerous club leadership positions as well. With that being said, what can I do to ensure that I would get in somewhere (US or Canada)? Im planning on applying to ortho externship... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

USDO vs Canadian MD vs Australian MD
Hi, I am in a little bit of a dilemma. I am an international Pre-med student here in the US. I did my Bachelors and Masters Degrees in the US. I recently got acceptances from a couple of med schools in different countries. One of them is a top-tier USDO school. The second is a Canadian MD school. The third is a top-tier MD school in Australia (a top 30 MD school globally). My ultimate goal is to match into a competitive US residency (probably surgical) and practice here in the US. I was... Offer Day was Tuesday (ortho has 30 signals), since then they received around nine rejections from signals, three waitlists, and only one interview from a school they didn't even signal. In total only has four interviews (1 from home... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Funding from Canadian banks for my D.O program in the U.S
Hey everyone, I am having trouble securing a line of credit because I can't seem to convince the employees at TD and Scotiabank that the D.O program I got accepted to (RVUCOM-CO) is an actual medical school. There are no osteopathic medical schools in Canada, and they continue to confuse osteopathic medical doctors with manual osteopathy. Without a student line of credit, I won't be able to attend the medical school in the States. Has anyone been through this personally, and has advice or... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)
