Question about course and transcript entry
I am an applicant from a Canadian university (University of Western Ontario). I wanted to know if there is a conversion for unit credits (1.0 or 0.5) to semester hours for courses with labs? ADEA AADSAS says that 0.5 = 3 hours and 1.0 = 6 hours but doesn't specify anything for courses with labs. Do I just enter them based on what ADEA has suggested, or is there another conversion I must use because some schools require 8 credit hours for courses with labs? Also, if I am entering a full... Post a 2 yr epilepsy fellowship, is general neurology practice (including stroke) viable?
Hello all, I am a PGY-2 neurology resident in the US (a non-US IMG) and intend to do a 2-yr epilepsy fellowship in Canada. However, in my understanding, in Canada, it's tough to come by subspecialist-specific jobs (except stroke), and the demand is for general neurologists. My question is that if I do a 2 yr epilepsy fellowship post-residency, does it diminish my general neurology (including stroke) practice skills? Now I know that a 1-yr- clinical neurophysiology fellowship is the most... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Applying EDP to Wayne state
Hi guys, I'm looking to apply through EDP to Wayne state as an OOS Canadian. I emailed the admissions office to ask about connecting with someone to discuss the competitiveness of my application and all I received back was a generic copy-pasted email taken from their website. Is this normal? Should I not waste my time applying EDP if I haven't received the OK from admissions? any help is appreciated :/ (Source: Student Doctor Network)

(For a friend) Michigan vs UMiami
Hello, Making this post for a friend because he doesn't have an SDN. Notes: Location doesn't matter to him. He's interested in Ophthalmology, and Ortho (Prob 70/30) - The only factor he really cares about is he wants to go to the school that maximizes chances to match Ophthalmology His current mentor has connections at Miami He's from Canada so the cold does not affect him, but he's also Nigerian so he has experience with the heat. Michigan (40% scholarship + 21k fin aid grant) [200k... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Canadian student feeling doomed
I am a Canadian student who recently got accepted to Salus. I have worked in the optometry industry for 8+ years, absolutely love it, and can't see myself in any other career. I knew tuition and living expenses in the US would be much greater than studying at Waterloo (but unfortunately I wasn't accepted there). My issue is that Salus just sent me tuition/living expense budget and its upward of $420,000 CAD for the 4 years.. Even if I was able to come up with that money through... WesternU vs. MCPHS?
Hey everyone! I need your help! I'm having a hard time deciding between Western and MCPHS and I would love to know your opinions on both schools. I'm originally from the west coast of Canada and I've always dreamed of getting into a school in California since it's a little closer to home(but never thought I'd be able to get in!) However, I received a generous scholarship with MCPHS and have had THE BEST experiences with the staff and faculty from the school, which makes the decision even... Buffalo (OOS) vs USC
Hi! I currently have offers to both and I am so conflicted. I'm a Canadian applicant and I'm leaning toward specializing in the future. I always wanted to live in California (tired of the cold weather but it's not something I'm not used to). Cost of attendance is important but not my #1 priority, I'm more interested in the programs, thoughts on PBL, specializing in the future etc. Anything helps! Thanks! (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Am I competitive?
Hi there! I am a 3rd year from Canada in a low- to mid-tier US medical school, hoping to get an anesthesiology residency in the US. I was wondering if I am considered competitive. -On Step 1 I got 245-246, honored all of my M3 clinicals except two (commendation and regular pass) with really nice evals (I didn't get a single criticism, thanks to amazing residents/attendings). I am ranked high in my class. -I have no research (one submission for publication pending), but above average ECs... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Canadian NDEB exam prosthodontics question help!
Hi all, I am stuck on a particular question while studying for the Canadian dental board exam, does anybody have any thoughts on this one? A survey of the master cast shows that the 3.5 and 3.7 abutments for a fixed partial denture have different paths of insertion with respect to 3.7. A semi-precision attachment is chosen rather than preparing the teeth again. Where should the male part of the attachment ideally be located? A. Distal of the 3.5 retainer. B. Distal of the 3.6 pontic. C... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Should I even bother applying because of one bad grade?
I’m Canadian but I’m thinking of submitting my American pharmCAS application as a backup. I had gotten an interview from a Canadian school but I’m unsure of how it went because I experienced a technical difficulty during the interview - it wasn’t a traditional interview but more of a MMI pre-recorded timed assessment. The technical difficulty made me lose connection (laptop randomly booted), causing me to not be able to answer 2 questions, but luckily I could finish the rest of the...
