Debating weather to do my residency in US or Ireland, thoughts and advice appreciated
I hope everyone is doing well
I am a Canadian, who graduated from Europe a few months ago. I applied to the Irish medical council and waiting for the process to hopefully apply for an SHO job and later for a residency in Family medicine/GP when applications are open. I am also thinking of applying to the UK medical council (GMC) since for now, it doesn't require the PLAB exam. My sister is near the end of her residency in the US and everyone (who's in the medical field) I talked to about my...

MMI and Panel Med School Interview Coaching from a Fourth Year Resident Physician
Over the past 2 years, I have had the amazing opportunity to help over 15 applicants in achieving their goal of medical school acceptance and matching to their desired residency programs in both Canada and the USA! This will be my last year offering MMI coaching before I finish residency and start my independent practice. As a previous MMI Interviewer, I can simulate the Interview experience, challenge you with the questions that are at the level you will see in a real interview, and provide...

Caribbean is (sadly) my last resort as a Canadian.
I'm a student who graduated from Canada with a 3.15 cGPA and a 508 MCAT (upward trend, got 3.8 in the last two years). My grades do not even come close to the Canadian cutoff of 3.85+, and my cGPA is also not good enough for US MD. People told me to apply DO, but only 5 schools so far accept Canadians. I have applied to all 5 but they, too, have very high GPA requirements. 2 more did accept Canadians, but required committee letters, which I do not have.
As a result, my last options are...

Canadian in USMD now considered IMG/ What now....
Hi there,
I got accepted into my top choice USMD program a few months back and am super excited to go. But I actually just found out that in 2022 they changed the rules for Canadian USMD graduating in 2026. We will be considered IMGs when applying for residency spots... In addition, Canada will also consider us IMGs...
This essentially means we are stuck in a suboptimal condition for both countries?
Honestly I'm super worried now and rethinking going if this means that I will be left...

Clinical PhD in a Canada school > CPA programs to APA internships?
I am seeking additional information on this as I have recently started to seek PhD programs in Canada. For example, McGill is a CPA accredited program for their PhD in clinical Psychology. As a US citizen, how hard is it to obtain an APA accredited internship if I seek to complete my 1-year internship in the US? Also, if I decided to complete a CPA internship in Canada, how hard is it to get a postdoctoral fellowship spot in clinical neuropsych (my goal)? Can anyone give me insights on...

2 Huge red flags - Please help, any advice appreciated - non-US Carib IMG
So I already knew I messed up years ago when I chose the "easy" route and went to a tier 17 Caribbean medical school. Yes I understand this will probably be what's more looked down upon, but I would still appreciate any help or honest opinion.
Here's my issue. No undergraduate degree (took a couple years in Canada then quit). Moved continents for a few years working odd jobs, then got into a Caribbean school which made me do 2 years of basic sciences first, THEN 1 year of prerequisite...

Adversity/Challenge Essay Topics: one from a long time ago but deals with racism, one from a professional environment
I'm revisiting some of my secondaries, I have 2 main outlines that deals with the following topics. One is from almost 15-ish years ago, but much more personally meaningful. The other is more recent and professional, but more common.
1) When I first moved to Canada when I was in the 6th grade, I attended a predominantly white school, I experienced a bit of a cultural shock/immature racism from the other students. Things like making fun of the food I eat, talking in another language with my...

Moving to Canada as an IMG after Residency+Fellowship
I've posted this before but I'm not sure it was in the right thread
1. I'm an IMG from india, if I want to train in the USA in a speciality like haem/onc, and move out to the Canada after that will i be able to do so? What will be the steps? How hard would it be to find jobs? Will my age (I'll be 32 by then i guess) be a huge obstacle? How will I get a PR? I am very early in my journey so I am just curious about the options right now
2. And also I want to pursue academic medicine, so would...
