Attn: Canadian DVMs and transplants
To my Canadian colleagues and anyone who has moved to Canada: Can anyone give me an idea how the GP DVM climate is? Highly considering packing up and trying to move up to Canada from the US. How is the pay in Canada? Any recommended places to live or avoid? We aren’t city people and would like a suburban area. If anyone here has moved from the US to Canada as a DVM, I’d love to talk to you! Feel free to DM me if you would like. I’ve got to get out of this country. Thank you 🙏 (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Can I mention that I got rejected from dental school in my personal statement?
So I'm trying to make the focus of my PS about my commitment to dentistry. I got rejected in 2016 after HS from dental school, and couldn't reapply next year as you can only apply once (weird rules in my country), so I did Architecture for a couple of years, then we got the ticket to live in Canada and that's when I could pursue my dreams of becoming a dentist again by doing a bachelors and applying to dental schools in the states. Would it sound wrong if i mentioned this but emphasizing my... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

NEB application
Hi, I am a vet graduated from a university in Asia and planning to move to Canada. I plan to obtain Canada CoQ via NEB program by registering to the program from my home country and sit for BCSE/NAVLE exams before moving to Canada. I believe that provinces like BC, AB allow applying for restricted license for a foreign vet who pass BCSE/NAVLE in order to practice in Canada while waiting for PSA/CPE exam. The problem is that I just found on NEB registration info page that I need to provide... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Listing Eagle scout as most meaningful activity? And number of hours for this award?
Being a scout actually is what made me interested in becoming a physician. I have talked about it on my personal statement too. I have seen debates whether to list eagle scout on AMCAS. However, what are your thoughts about listing it as a most meaningful activity? This is where my story about becoming a physician started, so I thought about mentioning it as a most meaningful activity. For reference, I have completed my undergrad in a small city in Canada. There weren't any boy scout... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

undergrad reputation (+ specifically, McGill)
Hi guys! Apologies in advance if this comes across as neurotic, because I don't intend for it to at all; I'm only asking because I had a conversation recently that got me second guessing this. For some context, I'm a US citizen who went to McGill (in Canada) for undergrad (for a variety of reasons, and I've really enjoyed the experience). I'm applying this cycle to US MD schools, as I've realized I'd like to stay and practice in the US. I was wondering generally what adcoms thought of... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

EM Residency Lengths
Hey, I am going to start M1 in the US this year and I am fairly interested in EM at this point. Post-residency, I would like to be able to work in overseas countries for some period of time (mainly Commonwealth countries, ie. NZ, Australia, Canada, etc.) which typically have 5 year EM training. Does anyone know if it is reasonable to apply only to 4 year EM residencies (ie. Are there a reasonable number of not insanely competitive options), or to spend an extra year in a 3 year program...
