OMS 13 Month Battle Plan
Hello friends and colleagues. I apologize for the essay I'm, about to unleash on you, but I hope you will indulge me. A bit about myself: I'm originally from South Africa where I trained as a dentist. I'm now based in Canada, where I've spent the past few years slogging through the Canadian boards for foreigners (i.e. the "Equivalency Process"). I somehow managed this while simultaneously hustling on the wrong side of the chair as a certified dental assistant- all while juggling my family... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Academia and faculty positions in Pediatric Dentistry
Hey Everyone I'm currently a pedo resident who is interested in academia. As a part of my program, there is an option to do an MS which I have started however, I'm hoping to go forward and do a PhD once I have finished. The program I am have said they are unlikely to have any faculty positions going forward so I was wondering what is the best way to reach out to different hospitals and universities to offer my services? I am open to working anywhere in Canada or the US but I just don't... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

CBSE preparation for OMFS residency
Hi everyone, Hope you're well. I am writing this question as part of the first few steps in my CBSE journey. I am a Canadian 1st year dental student and I am interested in pursuing OMFS after dental school. I am preparing (at least mentally) to take the CBSE, and thought I'd get as much information as possible before starting the process. I am considering taking the exam in February 2023 (during my 2nd year). Do you think that is a good date? Any tips for the preparation (resources... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

What are your thoughts on Invisalign? Or other ortho treatment (clear aligners, etc)?
I work in Canada and I've noticed especially in bigger cities, it is pretty much expected for dentists to be Invisalign-certified. Especially within the last few years, it's really booming amongst general dentists. Many patients do not want to pay extra fees to orthodontist and would prefer getting it done "under one roof". In smallerish cities where I live, not many GPs here offer them. Instead, most refer to ortho. I take absolutely ZERO interest in ortho. I just don't want to take a... No interviews, how should I prepare for next cycle if I have to?
Hey everyone, I applied to 13 US schools and 6 Canadian schools this cycle (list at the bottom) and have so far received 4 rejections and 0 interviews. I know its not time to worry yet, but I like to plan for the worst case and start improving my app for next cycle. I definitely think my personal statement & secondaries might be lacking since I'm not the best writer but I tried to compensate by starting them early. I went through four reviews with multiple people (family/peers/teachers)... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

What should I be doing in grad school based on my goals?
Good afternoon all, After lurking this forum for many years while completing my undergraduate, I was accepted into a graduate program in clinical psychology, and my first subjectively post-worthy question has arisen. I am in a Canadian program, where technically I am an MSc student, before being allowed to carry on with my doctorate. I received funding (18,500/year) for my master's research but have to re-apply for federal funding for my Ph.D., which is significantly more lucrative... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Royal College PM & R Exam
Hi everyone! I’m a Canadian but completed med school, PM&R residency, and pain fellowship in the US. I’m a little over 5 years out from training and am registered to sit for the RCPSC PM&R exam in March. If anyone on here is a recent Canadian PM&R residency grad or knows someone that is, I’d really appreciate any insight on good resources to study for the exam (books, question banks, etc.). Thanks so much! (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Dental School US-Canada
I am a Canadian citizen hoping to attend university in the states. I want to go to dental school and i’m wondering if i will be able to complete dental school in the states then transfer back to Canada to specialize. Is this possible? Will I be able to practice in Canada if I specialize in the US? Or should I just complete undergrad in the US then complete my other degrees in Canada? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Hi, I am currently a final year vet student from south Asia. In the next 3 years, I will get a license to practice in North America(DVM) after passing a lot of difficult exams.
