Cerebral infarction in Beh çet’s syndrome caused by obliterative focal arteritis
We present a case in which cerebral infarction was seen and Behcet ’s syndrome was diagnosed. Following investigation and monitoring, we identified that the cause was a progressive obliterative focal arteritis of the middle cerebral artery. Such an entity has not previously been reported, although similar cases are described which explain the pathophysiology of t he disorder. (Source: Neurological Sciences)

Plasma-derived exosomal protein SHP2 deficiency induces neutrophil hyperactivation in Behcet's uveitis
In conclusion, we highlighted a pathogenic role of plasma-derived exosomal SHP2 deficiency in facilitating neutrophil activation and suggested that SHP2 might be an immunoprotective factor in BU pathologic process.PMID:38211682 | DOI:10.1016/j.exer.2024.109785 (Source: Experimental Eye Research)

Proteomic profiling of aqueous humor-derived exosomes in Vogt-Koyanagi-Harada disease and Behcet's uveitis
This study performed the first label-free quantitative proteomics on aqueous humor-derived exosomes from 84 patients with VKH or BU to determine their potential roles. Sixty-five differentially expressed proteins (DEPs) and 40 DEPs were detected in the VKH and BU groups, respectively. GO and KEGG analysis showed that DEPs were mainly enriched in the complement-related pathways. The complement C1q subcomponent subunit B (C1QB) was identified as a key exosomal protein, and its expression was significantly increased by western blotting in both diseases. Additionally, the integrated analysis based on the published scRNA-seq da...

4-Octyl Itaconate Inhibits Proinflammatory Cytokine Production in Behcet ’s Uveitis and Experimental Autoimmune Uveitis
Abstract4-octyl itaconate (4-OI) is an anti-inflammatory metabolite that activates the nuclear-factor-E2-related factor 2 (NRF2) signaling. In the current work, we investigated whether 4-OI could affect the production of proinflammatory cytokines in Behcet ’s uveitis (BU) and experimental autoimmune uveitis (EAU). Peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) of active BU patients and healthy individuals within vitro 4-OI treatment were performed to assess the influence of 4-OI on the proinflammatory cytokine production. EAU was induced and used for investigating the influence of 4-OI on the proinflammatory cytokine product...

A case of Beh çet's disease with unusual cardiovascular complications
Two arterial aneurysms complicating Behcet ’s disease. Key Clinical MessageBeh çet's disease should be suspected in young adults who present with heart failure and/or vascular lesions. Cardiac involvement and mesenteric artery aneurysm are rare but should be recognized because of their severity. (Source: Clinical Case Reports)

Angiographic findings of pulmonary arterial involvement in Behcet's Disease: Do they correlate with symptoms and acute phase response?
CONCLUSION: Our results show that isolated pulmonary thrombosis is the main form of PAI, and isolated pulmonary aneurysm formation is rare in our BD cases. In the presence of pulmonary symptoms with or without increased APRs, involvement of segmental or more proximal parts of pulmonary arteries is most commonly detected. We also observed that PAI may be seen in about one fourth of especially male BD patients without symptoms or increased APR. Our results suggest that BD patients with pulmonary symptoms should be screened by CTPA for PAI, however, further research is needed to clarify the role of routine CTPA screening in a...

Resuming anti-TNF therapy after development of miliary tuberculosis in Behcet ’s disease-related uveitis: a case report
ConclusionThis case suggests that in patients with BD who have discontinued anti-TNF therapy due to miliary TB, restarting anti-TNF therapy may be a therapeutic option after TB has been treated appropriately with careful monitoring for relapse. Central retinal artery occlusion after spinal surgery: Case report and literature review
CONCLUSION: Central retinal artery occlusion is rarely observed following spinal surgery. The cause was presumed to be compression of the orbit by a horseshoe headrest in a prone position due to an accidental shift in position during surgery. This catastrophic complication, albeit rare, is usually irreversible and thus must be prevented. Proper positioning and vigilance by both the surgeon and the anesthesiologist during surgery are fundamental to ensure that the orbits are not under pressure.PMID:37899591 | DOI:10.1177/11206721231210745 (Source: European Journal of Ophthalmology)
