RIPK2 as a promising druggable target for autoimmune diseases
Int Immunopharmacol. 2023 Apr 4;118:110128. doi: 10.1016/j.intimp.2023.110128. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTReceptor Interacting Serine/Threonine Kinase 2 (RIPK2) is an essential regulator of the inflammatory process and immune response. In innate immunity, the NOD-RIPK2 signaling axis is an important pathway that directly mediates inflammation and immune response. In adaptive immunity, RIPK2 may affect T cell proliferation, differentiation and cellular homeostasis thereby involving T cell-driven autoimmunity, but the exact mechanism remains unclear. Recent advances suggest a key role of RIPK2 in diverse autoimmune diseas...

Interferon- α2a induces CD4 < sup > + < /sup > T cell apoptosis and suppresses Th1/Th17 responses via upregulating IRF1-mediated PDL1 expression in dendritic cells from Behcet's uveitis
In this study, we investigated its effect on dendritic cells (DCs) and CD4+ T cells, which are essential for the development of BU. Our results showed that the expression of PDL1 and IRF1 was significantly decreased in DCs from active BU patients, and IFNα2a could significantly upregulate PDL1 expression in an IRF1-dependent manner. IFNα2a-treated DCs induced CD4+ T cells apoptosis and inhibited the Th1/Th17 immune response in association with reduced secretion of IFN-γ and IL-17. We also found that IFNα2a promoted Th1 cell differentiation and IL-10 secretion by CD4+ T cells. Finally, a comparison of patients before an...

Intestinal Behcet ’s syndrome with an unusual complication bladder-intestines fistula and urinary tract infections—A case report
A 33-year-old male patient with a 17-year Behcet’s syndrome history showed abdominal pain and fever symptoms. The abdominal CT was suggestive of an acute ileocecal intestinal perforation. In addition, the symptoms disappeared after the conservative treatment. Some related examinations, including capsule endoscopy, were performed to explain the phenomenon of the food residue urine. These results indicated the intestine-urinary tract fistula formation, supposed to be the outcome of intestinal Behcet’s syndrome perforation. This is a rare case of intestinal Behcet’s syndrome with abdominal symptoms as the main manifesta...

Autoinflammatory diseases and the kidney
AbstractThe kidney represents an important target of systemic inflammation. Its involvement in monogenic and multifactorial autoinflammatory diseases (AIDs) vary from peculiar and relatively frequent manifestations to some rare but severe features that may end up requiring transplantation. The pathogenetic background is also very heterogeneous ranging from amyloidosis to non-amyloid related damage rooted in inflammasome activation. Kidney involvement in monogenic and polygenic AIDs may present as renal amyloidosis, IgA nephropathy, and more rarely as various forms of glomerulonephritis (GN), namely segmental glomeruloscler...
