Detailed Phytochemical Evaluation of a Locally Endemic Species (Campanula baskilensis) by LC-MS/MS and its In-Depth Antioxidant and Enzyme Inhibitory Activities
Chem Biodivers. 2023 Oct 17:e202301182. doi: 10.1002/cbdv.202301182. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTThe importance of bioactive plant species in the scientific world is increasing day by day. The relationship between health and traditional-modern life, promotes the creation of new value-added natural products. This is the first research to conduct a bioactivity and chemical composition analysis of Campanula baskilensis species, which belongs to the medicinally important genus Campanula L (Campanulaceae). The aim of the current study is to quantitatively investigate the phytochemical contents of aerial and root parts of diff...

Millard-Gubler Syndrome due to Parenchymal Neuro-Behcet's Syndrome Lesion: a Rare Case Report
Acta Neurol Taiwan. 2024 Mar 30;33(1):19-22.ABSTRACTBehcet's disease; it is a vascular-inflammatory chronic recurrent disease that can affect many systems in the body. Millard Gubler syndrome is one of the brainstem syndromes that occurs due to lesions involving the ventral part of the caudal pons. We wanted to present a case of Millard Gubler syndrome, which developed due to Behçet's syndrome lesion in the pons ventral region in a patient who presented with limitation of outward gaze on the left, inability to close the left eye completely, inability to completely wrinkle the left side of the forehead, and loss of contral...

Could NCOA5 a novel candidate gene for multiple sclerosis susceptibility?
CONCLUSIONS: The fact that the CC genotype was found to be significantly higher in the patient group compared to the control group (p = 0.0002) and that it had a statistically significantly higher OR value (OR, 95% CI = 4.16, 1.91-9.05) suggests that the C allele may recessively predispose to MS for this polymorphism. These results suggest for the first time that the NCOA5 gene may have an effect on the occurrence of MS through different molecular pathways, which are discussed in the manuscript.PMID:37817021 | DOI:10.1007/s11033-023-08830-6 (Source: Cancer Control)

The risk of cardiovascular comorbidity in children with Beh çet's disease
CONCLUSION: Pediatric BD patients with vascular involvement may tend to have more cardiovascular risk factors. However, cardiovascular assessment should be considered in all BD patients regardless of the involved systems. We suggest that ABPM may accurately define hypertension and cardiovascular risk in BD.PMID:37788103 | DOI:10.1093/rheumatology/kead505 (Source: Atherosclerosis)

Advances in pathogenesis and treatment of ocular involvement in Behcet ’s disease
Behcet’s disease (BD) is a chronic multi-systemic disease characterized by relapsing-remitting oral ulcers, genital ulcers, ocular inflammatory involvements, and numerous other systemic features. Ocular involvements are quite common in BD and may cause severe tissue damage and potentially blindness. Even though the pathogenesis of BD remains ambiguous, growing evidences have shown that genetic factors, environmental triggers and immunological abnormalities play significant roles in its development and progression. Novel biotherapies targeting IFN-γ, TNF-α and interleukins have been used in recent years. In this review,...

Epidemiology and Clinical Course of Pediatric Uveitis in a Tertiary Referral Center in Northeastern Iran
CONCLUSION: The most prevalent systemic associations were JIA and Behcet's disease. Ocular Behcet is a common etiology of pediatric uveitis in northeastern Iran. A timely and appropriate treatment could result in satisfactory visual outcomes.PMID:37713536 | DOI:10.1080/09273948.2023.2249985 (Source: Ocular Immunology and Inflammation)

Analysis of HLA Profiles in 390 Uveitis Cases: Insights into Clinical Presentations
CONCLUSIONS: Human leukocyte antigens (HLAs) play a significant role in the mechanism of uveitis. HLA-B27 exhibits high diagnostic value in acute AU, while HLA-DR4 and HLA-DRw53 are crucial for diagnosing binocular uveitis, particularly Vogt Koyanagi-Harada (VKH) syndrome. Further investigation is warranted to explore the relationship between HLA-DR4, HLA-DRw53, and uveitis.PMID:37708541 (Source: Alternative Therapies in Health and Medicine)
