Is Common Trunk Anomaly Frequent in Hemifacial Spasm? Comparison with Normal Subjects using MRI
CONCLUSIONS: There was no apparent association between common trunk anomaly and HFS. It is suspected that some vascular anomalies other than a common trunk are involved in HFS.PMID:38734163 | DOI:10.1016/j.wneu.2024.05.004 (Source: Atherosclerosis)

3D Characterization of the Aortic Valve and Aortic Arch in Bicuspid Aortic Valve Patients
Ann Biomed Eng. 2024 May 11. doi: 10.1007/s10439-024-03527-8. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTPatients with bicuspid aortic valve (BAV) commonly have associated aortic stenosis and aortopathy. The geometry of the aortic arch and BAV is not well defined quantitatively, which makes clinical classifications subjective or reliant on limited 2D measurements. The goal of this study was to characterize the 3D geometry of the aortic arch and BAV using objective and quantitative techniques. Pre-TAVR computed tomography angiogram (CTA) in patients with BAV and aortic stenosis (AS) were analyzed (n = 59) by assessing valve commissural ...

Coronary sodium [18F]fluoride activity predicts outcomes post-CABG: a comparative evaluation with conventional metrics
ConclusionQuantification of coronary microcalcification activity via [18F]NaF PET displayed a strong ability to predict early and long-term post-CABG cardiovascular outcomes, thereby outperforming conventional metrics of coronary macrocalcification burden and stenosis severity.Trial registration: The trial was registered with the Chinese Clinical Trial Committee (number: ChiCTR1900022527; URL:www.chictr.org.cn/showproj.html?proj=37933). In situ ascending aortic thrombus in a patient with metastatic lung adenocarcinoma and no aortic atherosclerosis or cisplatin exposure: a  case report
ConclusionTo our knowledge, this is the only case detailing anin situ ascending aortic thrombus in the setting of lung cancer, without structural risk factors, chemotherapy use, or other hypercoagulable comorbidities. Optimal management for an aortic thrombus and malignant disease is less clear. Clinicians should be vigilant for unusual arterial thromboses in patients with high metastatic burden. Impact of rapid iodine contrast agent infusion on tracheal diameter and lung volume in CT pulmonary angiography measured with deep learning-based algorithm
ConclusionsRapid infusion of iodine contrast agent reduced the tracheal diameter and both lung volumes in CT pulmonary angiography, which was scanned at end-inspiratory level, compared with those in unenhanced CT. (Source: Japanese Journal of Radiology)

Comparison between Woven EndoBridge and coiling with and without stent assistance for intracranial bifurcation and wide-neck aneurysms: a comprehensive systematic review and meta-analysis
CONCLUSIONS: This study provides evidence on the noninferiority of WEB compared with PC and SAC in terms of angiographic outcomes. Meanwhile, our findings on lower complication rates, cost, and improved operative aspects associated with WEB establish this novel endovascular treatment as a safe and effective alternative for the treatment of bifurcation and wide-neck aneurysms.PMID:38728758 | DOI:10.3171/2024.2.JNS232531 (Source: Journal of Neurosurgery)

Challenging the angiosome concept: Delineating peripheral arterial disease patterns in diabetic foot ulcers
CONCLUSIONS: The research indicates inconsistent support for below-the-knee artery involvement correlating with foot ulcer locations in angiosomes. While aiding vascular comprehension, the angiosome concept may not fully elucidate lower limb vascular complexities and ulcer genesis. Factors like collateral circulation should be noticed to understanding ulcer localization and severity, extending beyond angiosomal arterial supply.PMID:38730279 | DOI:10.1177/17085381241254430 (Source: Vascular)

Improved accuracy of spectral-domain optical coherence tomography and optical coherence tomography angiography for monitoring myopic macular neovascularisation activity
CONCLUSION: SD OCT with dense volumetric scan was highly sensitive for diagnosing myopic MNV. The addition of OCTA improved the diagnostic specificity without FA. Monitoring of the longitudinal changes on SD OCT and judicious use of FA is a reliable surveillance strategy for myopic MNV.PMID:38729765 | DOI:10.1136/bjo-2023-323374 (Source: The British Journal of Ophthalmology)

Diagnostic performance of computed tomography-digital subtraction angiography and conventional magnetic resonance imaging for evaluating the vascularity of osseous spinal tumors
CONCLUSIONS: Qualitative subtraction CTA offers the highest diagnostic value in evaluating spinal tumor vascularity, compared to quantitative CTA and MRI. Although conventional MRI may not be a reliable approach, certain MRI signs may have high specificity, which may be crucial for assessing spinal tumor vascularity.PMID:38729819 | DOI:10.1016/j.jfma.2024.05.001 (Source: J Formos Med Assoc)
