Improved accuracy of spectral-domain optical coherence tomography and optical coherence tomography angiography for monitoring myopic macular neovascularisation activity
CONCLUSION: SD OCT with dense volumetric scan was highly sensitive for diagnosing myopic MNV. The addition of OCTA improved the diagnostic specificity without FA. Monitoring of the longitudinal changes on SD OCT and judicious use of FA is a reliable surveillance strategy for myopic MNV.PMID:38729765 | DOI:10.1136/bjo-2023-323374 (Source: The British Journal of Ophthalmology)

Diagnostic performance of computed tomography-digital subtraction angiography and conventional magnetic resonance imaging for evaluating the vascularity of osseous spinal tumors
CONCLUSIONS: Qualitative subtraction CTA offers the highest diagnostic value in evaluating spinal tumor vascularity, compared to quantitative CTA and MRI. Although conventional MRI may not be a reliable approach, certain MRI signs may have high specificity, which may be crucial for assessing spinal tumor vascularity.PMID:38729819 | DOI:10.1016/j.jfma.2024.05.001 (Source: J Formos Med Assoc)

Validation of the European Society of Cardiology pretest probability models for obstructive coronary artery disease in high-risk population
CONCLUSIONS: In high-risk Serbian population, both the 2013 and 2019 ESC-PTP models had moderate accuracy in diagnosing CAD, with the 2019-ESC-PTP underestimating the prevalence of CAD, while the 2013-ESC-PTP overestimating it. Further studies are warranted to establish PTP models for high-risk countries.PMID:38729349 | DOI:10.1016/j.hjc.2024.05.003 (Source: Hellenic Journal of Cardiology)

In situ ascending aortic thrombus in a patient with metastatic lung adenocarcinoma and no aortic atherosclerosis or cisplatin exposure: a case report
CONCLUSION: To our knowledge, this is the only case detailing an in situ ascending aortic thrombus in the setting of lung cancer, without structural risk factors, chemotherapy use, or other hypercoagulable comorbidities. Optimal management for an aortic thrombus and malignant disease is less clear. Clinicians should be vigilant for unusual arterial thromboses in patients with high metastatic burden.PMID:38730499 | PMC:PMC11088044 | DOI:10.1186/s13256-024-04515-1 (Source: Atherosclerosis)

Low-density lipoprotein particle profiles compared with standard lipids measurements in the association with asymptomatic intracranial artery stenosis
Sci Rep. 2024 May 10;14(1):10765. doi: 10.1038/s41598-024-59523-4.ABSTRACTThe Shiga Epidemiological Study of Subclinical Atherosclerosis was conducted in Kusatsu City, Shiga, Japan, from 2006 to 2008. Participants were measured for LDL-p through nuclear magnetic resonance technology. 740 men participated in follow-up and underwent 1.5 T brain magnetic resonance angiography from 2012 to 2015. Participants were categorized as no-ICAS, and ICAS consisted of mild-ICAS (1 to < 50%) and severe-ICAS (≥ 50%) in any of the arteries examined. After exclusion criteria, 711 men left for analysis, we used multiple logistic regress...

Repeated Injection of Very Small Superparamagnetic Iron Oxide Particles (VSOPs) in Murine Atherosclerosis: A Safety Study
This study aimed to investigate the effect of multiple intravenous injections of VSOPs in atherosclerotic mice. Taurine-formulated VSOPs (VSOP-T) were repeatedly intravenously injected at 100 µmol Fe/kg in apolipoprotein E-deficient (ApoE KO) mice with diet-induced atherosclerosis. Angiographic imaging was carried out by in vivo MRI. Magnetic particle spectrometry was used to detect tissue VSOP content, and tissue iron content was quantified photometrically. Pathological changes in organs, atherosclerotic plaque development, and expression of hepatic iron-related proteins were evaluated. VSOP-T enabled the angiographic im...

Quantitative flow ratio versus fractional flow reserve for Heart Team decision-making in multivessel disease: the randomised, multicentre DECISION QFR trial

Comparison between Woven EndoBridge and coiling with and without stent assistance for intracranial bifurcation and wide-neck aneurysms: a comprehensive systematic review and meta-analysis
CONCLUSIONS: This study provides evidence on the noninferiority of WEB compared with PC and SAC in terms of angiographic outcomes. Meanwhile, our findings on lower complication rates, cost, and improved operative aspects associated with WEB establish this novel endovascular treatment as a safe and effective alternative for the treatment of bifurcation and wide-neck aneurysms.PMID:38728758 | DOI:10.3171/2024.2.JNS232531 (Source: Journal of Neurosurgery)

Coronary sodium [ < sup > 18 < /sup > F]fluoride activity predicts outcomes post-CABG: a comparative evaluation with conventional metrics
CONCLUSION: Quantification of coronary microcalcification activity via [18F]NaF PET displayed a strong ability to predict early and long-term post-CABG cardiovascular outcomes, thereby outperforming conventional metrics of coronary macrocalcification burden and stenosis severity.TRIAL REGISTRATION: The trial was registered with the Chinese Clinical Trial Committee (number: ChiCTR1900022527; URL: www.chictr.org.cn/showproj.html?proj=37933 ).PMID:38730084 | DOI:10.1007/s00259-024-06736-4 (Source: Molecular Medicine)

Challenging the angiosome concept: Delineating peripheral arterial disease patterns in diabetic foot ulcers
CONCLUSIONS: The research indicates inconsistent support for below-the-knee artery involvement correlating with foot ulcer locations in angiosomes. While aiding vascular comprehension, the angiosome concept may not fully elucidate lower limb vascular complexities and ulcer genesis. Factors like collateral circulation should be noticed to understanding ulcer localization and severity, extending beyond angiosomal arterial supply.PMID:38730279 | DOI:10.1177/17085381241254430 (Source: Vascular)
