A multicenter study of the efficacy and safety of treatments (endovascular or conservative) in small intracranial aneurysms in Colombia
CONCLUSION: Endovascular therapy for aneurysms <5 mm appears to be a technically feasible treatment, with satisfactory occlusion rates and few re-treatments at the 12-month follow-up. The complication rates were similar to those reported in studies on small aneurysms.PMID:38751184 | DOI:10.1177/15910199241254138 (Source: Interventional Neuroradiology)

Color-coded collateral and venous outflow patterns in estimating infarct progression and predicting functional independence for stroke patients in late time window
CONCLUSIONS: Cerebral collateral and VO patterns based on color-coded mCTA can effectively predict infarct progression and 90-day clinical outcomes, even for AIS patients beyond the routine time window.ADVANCES IN KNOWLEDGE: Color-coded mCTA is a readily understandable post-processing technique for the rapid assessment of collateral circulation and VO status in stroke imaging. A moderate correlation was observed between the characteristics of collateral delay/VO on color-coded mCTA and IGR in patients with acute ischemic stroke. Both high-quality collateral circulation and "red superficial middle cerebral vein sign" can pr...

Sildenafil-induced bilateral ciliochoroidal effusion syndrome: Case report
CONCLUSIONS: The patient demonstrated a rare case of sildenafil-induced bilateral ciliochoroidal effusion syndrome. This case report shows that sildenafil should be added to the possible causative agents of ciliochoroidal effusion syndrome.PMID:38751097 | DOI:10.1177/11206721241254407 (Source: European Journal of Ophthalmology)

Innovations in cardiac computed tomography: Imaging in coronary artery disease
Prog Cardiovasc Dis. 2024 May 14:S0033-0620(24)00073-2. doi: 10.1016/j.pcad.2024.05.005. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTCoronary computed tomography angiography (CCTA) has emerged as a pivotal tool in the non-invasive evaluation of coronary artery disease (CAD). Recent advancements in imaging techniques, quantitative plaque assessment methods, assessment of coronary physiology, and perivascular coronary inflammation have propelled CCTA to the forefront of CAD management, enabling precise risk stratification, disease monitoring, and evaluation of treatment response. However, challenges persist, including the need for cardiov...

Successive Development and Rupture of Blister-Like Anterior Communicating Artery Aneurysms at Mirror Locations
J Korean Neurosurg Soc. 2024 May 16. doi: 10.3340/jkns.2024.0069. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTThis is the first report of the successive development and rupture of blister-like anterior communicating artery (ACoA) aneurysms at mirror locations with a short interval. A 49-year-old man presented with an angiogram-negative subarachnoid hemorrhage with significant basal frontal interhemispheric blood. Surgical exploration revealed a blister-like aneurysm on the left side of the superior wall of the ACoA, which was treated using a microsuturing technique. On the 18th day after the initial subarachnoid hemorrhage, the second o...

Percutaneous coronary intervention for bifurcation coronary lesions using optimised angiographic guidance: the 18th consensus document from the European Bifurcation Club
EuroIntervention. 2024 May 13:EIJ-D-24-00160. doi: 10.4244/EIJ-D-24-00160. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTThe 2023 European Bifurcation Club (EBC) meeting took place in Warsaw in October, and the latest evidence for the use of intravascular ultrasound (IVUS) and optical coherence tomography (OCT) to optimise percutaneous coronary interventions (PCI) on coronary bifurcation lesions (CBLs) was a major focus. The topic generated deep discussions and general appraisal on the potential benefits of IVUS and OCT in PCI procedures. Nevertheless, despite an increasing recognition of IVUS and OCT capabilities and their recognised cen...

A clinical comparative study of dual LVIS devices and single flow diversion stenting for the treatment of unruptured V3-V4 vertebral artery dissection
CONCLUSION: Both methods could effectively treat unruptured VAD in V3-V4 segments. Nevertheless, simple FD implantation is relatively easier to perform and involves lower radiation exposure.PMID:38751187 | DOI:10.1177/15910199241254864 (Source: Interventional Neuroradiology)
