Association between Physical Activity Amount and Cardiorespiratory Fitness, Sleep Quality, and Health-related Quality of Life in Patients with Long COVID: A Cross-Sectional Study
CONCLUSIONS: Gender differences were found in CRF among patients with long COVID. Greater self-reported VPA or total PA was associated with better CRF, while greater total PA and MPA were associated with better sleep quality and HRQoL, respectively, in patients with long COVID. Further research is needed to explore these associations in longitudinal studies.PMID:38697594 | DOI:10.1016/j.apmr.2024.04.010 (Source: Health Physics)

Effectiveness, cost, and safety of four regimens recommended by WHO for RR/MDR-TB treatment: a cohort study in Eastern China
CONCLUSIONS: For RR/MDR-TB patients in China who meet the criteria for short-term regimens, the short-term regimens were proven to be the most cost-effective of the four regimens recommended by WHO. For RR/MDR-TB patients in China who don't meet the criteria for short-term regimens, the new long-term injectable regimens are more cost-effective than the remaining two regimens.PMID:38697138 | DOI:10.1080/07853890.2024.2344821 (Source: Annals of Medicine)

Safety of surgery: quality assessment of meta-analyses on the WHO checklist
CONCLUSIONS: The meta-analysis coincides with obtaining lower complications and mortality rates with the WHO surgical safety checklist. However, the studies included in the meta-analyses were mostly observational, with potential biases, and according to the AMSTAR 2 tool, the overall confidence in the results of the evaluated studies was critically low.PMID:38694363 | PMC:PMC11060208 | DOI:10.1097/MS9.0000000000002006 (Source: Annals of Medicine)

Measures implemented in the school setting to contain the COVID-19 pandemic
CONCLUSIONS: A range of measures can have a beneficial effect on transmission-related outcomes, healthcare utilization and school attendance. We rated the current findings at a higher level of certainty than the original review. Further high-quality research into school measures to control SARS-CoV-2 in a wider variety of contexts is needed to develop a more evidence-based understanding of how to keep schools open safely during COVID-19 or a similar public health emergency.PMID:38695826 | DOI:10.1002/14651858.CD015029.pub2 (Source: Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews)

Perinatal mortality, severe maternal morbidity and maternal near miss: protocol of a study integrated with the Birth in Brazil II survey
This study will include 155 public, mixed and private maternities, accounting for more than 2,750 births per year, participating in the Birth in Brazil II survey. We will collect retrospective data from maternal and neonatal records of all hospitalizations within a 30-day period in these maternities, applying a screening form to identify cases of maternal morbidity and perinatal deaths. Medical record data of all identified cases will be collected after hospital discharge, using a standardized instrument. Cases of severe maternal morbidity and maternal near miss will be classified based on the definition adopted by the Wor...

This study sought to analyze how articulation vs. cooperation and autonomy vs. division of powers between entities occurred in Argentina, exploring asymmetries between several entities in implementing public policies related to health technologies during the pandemic and the influences of other actors. For this, a documentary research was carried out related to 2020-2021 (technical reports published by the World Health Organization, national agencies and scientific societies, laws, court decisions, press, and research and in-depth interviews with members of the Argentine Ministries of Health).
