Antipsychotic Use and Risk of Breast Cancer in Women With Severe Mental Illness: Replication of a Nationwide Nested Case-Control Database Study
CONCLUSIONS: Although causality remains uncertain, exposure to prolactin-elevating antipsychotics for ≥ 1 year was associated with increased odds of breast cancer in women with severe mental illness. When prescribing antipsychotics, a shared decision-making process should consider individual risk factors for breast cancer.PMID:38687213 | DOI:10.1093/schbul/sbae058 (Source: Cancer Control)

Cystectomy for bladder cancer in Sweden - short-term outcomes after centralization
CONCLUSION: After the centralization of the cystectomy-care in Sweden, older patients and individuals with more extensive comorbidity were offered RC whereas 90-day mortality and the proportion of patients subjected to reoperations within 90 days of surgery decreased without increasing waiting times.PMID:38685576 | DOI:10.2340/sju.v59.40120 (Source: Scandinavian Journal of Urology)

One size does not fit all: Perspectives from Swedish midwives on fetal movement counselling
CONCLUSION: To reduce health inequities for migrant women, this study highlights the need for more flexible guidelines within the standard antenatal care programme. These guidelines should prioritise the individual woman's needs over institutional protocols, acknowledge the midwife-woman relationship as the core of midwifery practice and support midwives to build a partnership with women through continuity of care.PMID:38688145 | DOI:10.1016/j.wombi.2024.101621 (Source: Women Birth)

Patient-Reported Anxiety or Depression Increased the Risk of Dissatisfaction Despite Improvement in Pain or Function Following Total Knee Arthroplasty: A Swedish Register-Based Observational Study of 8,745 Patients
Remaining pain and functional limitations may cause dissatisfaction in patients after total knee arthroplasty (TKA). Furthermore, anxiety and depression are associated with remaining postoperative symptoms and dissatisfaction. We investigated if patient-reported anxiety or depression increased the risk of dissatisfaction 1 year after TKA in patients who improved in pain or function. (Source: The Journal of Arthroplasty)

Treatment patterns of antidepressants in children and adolescents in Scandinavia
AbstractThe aim of this study was to examine variations in use of antidepressants among children and adolescents in the three Scandinavian countries (Sweden, Norway, and Denmark). We identified new users of antidepressants (5 –17 years) during 2007–2018 and described the annual incidence rate, treatment duration, concomitant psychotropic drug use, and the clinical setting of the prescribing physician (in Sweden and Denmark). Incident use of antidepressants increased by a factor 1.9 in Sweden, 1.3 in Norway and decre ased by a factor 0.6 in Denmark during the study period. In Sweden, 58% of antidepressant users were co...

Sensors, Vol. 24, Pages 2833: LSTM-Autoencoder Based Anomaly Detection Using Vibration Data of Wind Turbines
pil Jeong The problem of energy depletion has brought wind energy under consideration to replace oil- or chemical-based energy. However, the breakdown of wind turbines is a major concern. Accordingly, unsupervised learning was performed using the vibration signal of a wind power generator to achieve an outlier detection performance of 97%. We analyzed the vibration data through wavelet packet conversion and identified a specific frequency band that showed a large difference between the normal and abnormal data. To emphasize these specific frequency bands, high-pass filters were applied to maximize the difference. Subse...

Effect of a national infection control programme in Sweden on prosthetic joint infection incidence following primary total hip arthroplasty: a cohort study
Conclusions Despite the comprehensive nationwide PRISS Project, Swedish PJI incidence was higher after the project and time to diagnosis remained unchanged. Factors contributing to PJI, such as increasing obesity, higher American Society of Anesthesiology class and more fractures as indications, explain the PJI increase among primary THA patients. Prognosis of Gleason score 8 prostatic adenocarcinoma in needle biopsies: a nationwide population-based study
AbstractA 5-tier grouping of Gleason scores has recently been proposed. Studies have indicated prognostic heterogeneity within these groups. We assessed prostate cancer-specific mortality (PCSM) and all-cause mortality (ACM) for men diagnosed with Gleason score 3  + 5 = 8, 4 + 4 = 8 and 5 + 3 = 8 acinar adenocarcinoma on needle biopsy in a population-based national cohort. The Prostate Cancer data Base Sweden 5.0 was used for survival analysis with PCSM and ACM at 5 and 10 years as endpoints. Multivariable Cox regression models contr olling for socioeconomic factors, stage and primary treatment typ...
