Validation of the International Space Station Smart Sample Concentrator for Microbial Monitoring of Low Biomass Water Samples.
This report presents the data from a validation study of a NASA-sponsored small business research initiative to develop a microgravity-compatible, automated water concentrator to be used on the ISS, which has been named the ISS Smart Sample Concentrator (iSSC). Efficiency and reproducibility of the iSSC were compared with a ground-based automated water concentrator and the standard Millipore manual filtration. This study sought to engage Pacific youth as part of the solution to reducing NCDs through social enterprise and championing of sustainable food systems. Health and Safety in Nail Salons: A Cross-Sectional Survey
ConclusionsNail technicians in Toronto, Canada are experiencing work-related symptoms. Musculoskeletal symptoms were the most common symptoms reported. Much of the focus on nail salons and health has been on chemical exposures, but ergonomic hazards should not be overlooked. Efforts to increase knowledge and improve occupational health in nail salons should include information on multiple possible workplace hazards and how to reduce impacts of exposure.
