CONCLUSIONS: Peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor gamma agonists probably reduce recurrent stroke and total events of cardiovascular death, non-fatal myocardial infarction or non-fatal stroke, and may improve insulin sensitivity and the stabilisation of carotid plaques. Their effects on adverse events are uncertain. Our conclusions should be interpreted with caution considering the small number and the quality of the included studies. Determinants of dysphagia following stroke
Conclusions:Among 15 factors evaluated, age, type of lesion and Brunnstrom ’s stages showed a significant association with the severity of dysphagia following stroke. This study advocates early dysphagia management for elderly patients with high Brunnstrom’s grading, for those who are not expected to spontaneously recover following stroke, and for earlier and better co mmunity rehabilitation. Dietary saturated fat intake and risk of stroke: systematic review and dose-response meta-analysis of prospective cohort studies
ConclusionThis meta-analysis further demonstrated that a higher consumption of dietary SFA is associated with a lower risk of stroke, and every 10 grams/day increase in SFA intake is associated with a 6% relative risk reduction in the rate of stroke. Further research is needed to explore the influence of specific SFA types and different macronutrient replacement models of SFA on the stroke risk.

Relationship between pre-stroke physical activity and symptoms of post-stroke anxiety and depression: An observational study.
CONCLUSION: In this group of patients with mild symptoms of emotional distress, it seems that pre-stroke physical activity might be protective against post-stroke depression, but not anxiety. Effects of aerobic exercise using cycle ergometry on balance and functional capacity in post-stroke patients: a systematic review and meta-analysis of randomised clinical trials.
Conclusions: The cycle ergometer aerobic exercise did not seem to improve balance or functional capacity in post-stroke patients. IMPLICATIONS FOR REHABILITATION Aerobic exercise with cycle ergometer does not improve balance in patients after chronic stroke, but the results for functional capacity are more promising. Beneficial changes in functional capacity can be seen after 12-4 weeks of training, and are dependent on the initial level of physical fitness of each individual.
