Can the early use of botulinum toxin in post stroke spasticity reduce contracture development? A randomised controlled trial.
CONCLUSION: BoNTA reduced spasticity and contractures after stroke and effects lasted for approximately 12-weeks. BoNTA reduced the need for concomitant contracture treatment and did not interfere with recovery of arm function.

The incidence of recurrent cardiovascular events among acute coronary syndrome patients treated with generic or original clopidogrel in relation to their sociodemographic and clinical characteristics. The Aegean study.
Conclusions: The use of a generic clopidogrel besylate formulation was quite high in both urban and insular areas of Greece and had similar efficacy and safety profile with the original clopidogrel salt, supporting the routine use of this low-cost generic clopidogrel in the management of cardiovascular disease patients.

Cinnamon May Slow Progression To Type 2 Diabetes, Boston Study Finds
(CNN) — Cinnamon may improve blood sugar control in people with a condition known as prediabetes and may slow the progression to type 2 diabetes, according to a new pilot study of 51 people with elevated blood sugars.
“We are looking for safe, durable and cost-effective approaches to reduce the progression from prediabetes to type 2 diabetes,” said study author Dr. Giulio Romeo, a staff physician at Boston’s Joslin Diabetes Center and the division of endocrinology at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. Changes in neutrophil, lymphocyte, platelet ratios and their relationship with NIHSS after rtPA and/or thrombectomy in ischemic stroke
Ischemic stroke accounts for about 80% of cerebrovascular diseases and causes serious neurological deficits in patients.1 For maximum benefit from ischemic stroke treatment, intravenous (IV) recombinant tissue plasminogen activator (rtPA) should be given or thrombectomy be performed as soon as possible.2 The inflammatory reaction following acute cerebral ischemia enlarges the infarct area and aggravates neurological deficit. In ischemic should tissue injury that begins with decreased blood flow to the tissue and oxygen deficiency, reperfusion occurs with rtPA or thrombectomy treatment and the damaged tissues are re-oxygenated.

Phosphodiesterase 3A and Arterial Hypertension.
Conclusions: The mutated PDE3A gene drives mechanisms that increase peripheral vascular resistance causing hypertension. We present two new animal models that will serve to elucidate the underlying mechanisms further. Our findings could facilitate the search for new antihypertensive treatments.

Screening strategies for hypertension.
CONCLUSIONS: There is an implicit assumption that early detection of hypertension through screening can reduce the burden of morbidity and mortality, but this assumption has not been tested in rigorous research studies. High-quality evidence from RCTs or programmatic evidence from NRCTs on the effectiveness and costs or harms of different screening strategies for hypertension (mass, targeted, or opportunistic) to reduce hypertension-related morbidity and mortality is lacking.

Correlation among high salt intake, blood pressure variability, and target organ damage in patients with essential hypertension: Study protocol clinical trial (SPIRIT compliant)
This study is a cross-sectional study. It will recruit 600 patients with essential hypertension in the outpatient and inpatient department of cardiovascular medicine of Chengdu Fifth People's Hospital.
