Incidence and consequences of resuming oral anticoagulant therapy following hematuria and risks of ischemic stroke and major bleeding in patients with atrial fibrillation
In conclusion, more and more patients who suffer a hematuria while on oral anticoagulant therapy resume NOAC. Patients resuming NOAC have similar risks of ischemic stroke/systemic embolism and major bleeding compared with those resuming VKA.

Reduction in the doses of direct oral anticoagulants and risk of ischemic stroke events: A hospital survey.
Abstract Inappropriately reduced doses (IRDs) of direct oral anticoagulants (DOACs) are common in clinical practice. We performed a retrospective review using electronic medical records of St. Marianna University School of Medicine Hospital (a 1200-bed teaching hospital in Japan) to address the prevalence of IRDs and patient-related factors that result in IRDs. We also surveyed DOAC-treated patients who were hospitalized due to a stroke during the 5-year study period to analyze the association between stroke events and IRDs. COVID-19 presenting as stroke.
CONCLUSIONS: Timely assessment and hyperacute treatment is the key to minimize mortality and morbidity of patients with acute stroke. Stroke teams should be wary of the fact that COVID-19 patients can present with cerebrovascular accidents and dawn appropriate personal protective equipment in every suspected patient. Further studies are urgently needed for a comprehensive understanding of the neurological pathology of COVID-19 and its effects on the nervous system. AbstractThe purpose of this study was to assess if clinical indications, patient location, and imaging sites predict the viewing pattern of referring physicians for CT and MR of the head, chest, and abdomen. Our study included 166,953 CT/MR images of head/chest/abdomen in 2016 –2017 in the outpatient (OP,n = 83,981 CT/MR), inpatient (IP,n = 51,052), and emergency (ED,n = 31,920) settings. Use of oral anticoagulation therapy in the first 3 months after the diagnosis of atrial fibrillation in Israel: a population ‐based study
ConclusionIn this real world, population ‐based cohort of patients with newly diagnosed AF, we found a lower than expected rate of OAC prescription within 3 months of diagnosis but an encouraging increase in OAC purchasing over time.
