Role of the Stroke Unit in Reducing the Medical and Neurological Complications Post Stroke in Patient Admitted at Royal Hospital from 2009-2015 (P2.318)
CONCLUSIONS: Medical complications that follow acute stroke not only influence mortality but may influence functional outcome. Stroke patients who receive organized inpatient care in a stroke unit are less likely to be developing medical complications post strokeDisclosure: Dr. Al-Hashmi has nothing to disclose. Assessment Model to Identify Patients With Stroke With a High Possibility of Discharge to Home Clinical Sciences
Conclusions—We have developed an assessment model for identifying patients with a high possibility of being discharged to their homes after an acute stroke. This model would be useful for health professionals to adequately plan patients’ discharge soon after their admission.

Associations Between Adherence to Evidence-Based, Stroke Quality Indicators and Outcomes of Acute Reperfusion Therapy
CONCLUSIONS: We demonstrated national marked and sustainable improvement in adherence to door-to-needle time, door-to-puncture time, and successful reperfusion from 2013 to 2017 in Japan in patients with acute ischemic stroke. Adhering to the key QIs substantially affected in-hospital outcomes, underlining the importance of monitoring the quality of care using evidence-based QIs and the nationwide Close The Gap-Stroke program.PMID:35971841 | DOI:10.1161/STROKEAHA.121.038483

Impact of Neurologist In-Hospital 24/7 on stroke patients arriving to the Emergency Department activated as a Code Stroke (S8.003)
Conclusions:In-hospital 24/7 coverage for acute stroke treatment reduces door to alteplase treatment times significantly. For each minute reduction in a neurologist at the bedside for CS, a 2 minute and 18 second improvement in door to alteplase treatment time occurs. An associated reduction in mortality is also demonstrated. A limitation of this study includes a smaller number of post-implementation data. These data will need on-going monitoring to ensure enduring impact.Disclosure: Dr. Schneider has nothing to disclose. Natural Language Processing Method Accurately Classifies and Extracts Unstructed Data from Stroke Admission and Progress Notes (P4.288)
CONCLUSIONS: Notes associated with stroke-related ICD9 codes has a closer association with the the training data as compared to notes that did not have a stroke associated ICD9 code (36.5 linear degrees of agreement versus 40.5 degrees). This method allowed for greater than 80% identification of patients with stroke related conditions.Disclosure: Dr. Franc has nothing to disclose.

Integration of Real-Time Electronic Health Records and Wireless Technology in a Mobile Stroke Unit
Background: UCHealth's Mobile Stroke Unit (MSU) at University of Colorado Hospital is an ambulance equipped with a computed tomography (CT) scanner and tele-stroke capabilities that began clinical operation in Aurora, Colorado January 2016. As one of the first MSU's in the United States, it was necessary to design unique and dynamic information technology infrastructure. This includes high-speed cellular connectivity, Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act compliance, cloud-based and remote access to electronic medical records (EMR), and reliable and rapid image transfer.

Nutrition and hydration management among stroke patients in inpatient rehabilitation: a best practice implementation project
Conclusion: The current project successfully increased knowledge of nutrition and hydration management for stroke survivors and more closely aligned inpatient management with best practice guidelines to improve health outcomes. It highlighted areas of focus moving forward and has prompted ongoing work for sustaining evidence-based practice change.

Heterogeneity of Stroke in Patients with Systemic Lupus Erythematosus
Conclusion The contributions of SLE to stroke varied significantly according to the stroke subtype. Given the unfavorable prognosis, close stroke subtype-specific observation by rheumatologists and stroke specialists is recommended after stroke events.PMID:36244734 | DOI:10.2169/internalmedicine.9228-21

COAST (Coordinating Options for Acute Stroke Therapy): An Advance Directive for Stroke.
CONCLUSIONS: COAST is an advance directive for stroke designed to make stroke care more efficient, optimize patients' autonomy, improve the quality of healthcare, and streamline the ethical management of complex care decisions in acute stroke. The inherent benefit of COAST is in providing patients and their families with more information regarding stroke and its treatment options, allowing them to take a more active role in their care. Medical therapy does not confer stroke prevention for all patients; identification of high-risk patients with asymptomatic carotid stenosis is still needed.
CONCLUSIONS: Prophylactic CR + BMT does not provide overall late stroke prevention compared with BMT alone. Diabetics with a history of stroke, in particular, are at an increased risk of stroke despite BMT. Timely CR + BMT for high-risk patients is still indicated. Stroke Patterns and Short Term Mortality in Marijuana Users and Non-Users: A Cross-Sectional Study (P1.061)
CONCLUSIONS: Our findings suggest that the SAH patients have higher rate of positive THC test in urine than other stroke types. Marijuana use has no effect on post-stroke in-hospital mortality.
