Association of injection drug use with incidence of HIV-associated non-AIDS-related morbidity by age, 1995–2014
Conclusion: Not all HANA comorbidities occur with higher incidence in PWID compared with non-IDU. However, higher incidence of ESRD and ESLD among PWIDs highlights the importance of recognition and management of markers of these comorbidities in early stages among PWID.

U.S. Life Expectancy Falls As More People Die From Illnesses
Rising mortality from a variety of illnesses caused life expectancy for Americans to drop in 2015 for the first in more than two decades, according to a National Center For Health Statistics study released Thursday.
The drop of 0.1 percent was small ― life expectancy at birth was 78.8 years in 2015, compared with 78.9 years in 2014. But it reverses a long trend, and the factors that led to it are worth looking at.

Conclusions and RelevanceTotal mortality significantly declined for black men from 2000 to 2014, and the overall B to W disparity narrowed to RR = 1.21 (95% CI 1.20 to 1.23) in 2014. However, significant black disadvantages relative to white men persisted for 10 leading causes of death.

Educational and behavioural interventions for anticoagulant therapy in patients with atrial fibrillation.
CONCLUSIONS: This review demonstrates that there is insufficient evidence to draw definitive conclusions regarding the impact of educational or behavioural interventions on TTR in AF patients receiving OAT. Thus, more trials are needed to examine the impact of interventions on anticoagulation control in AF patients and the mechanisms by which they are successful. It is also important to explore the psychological implications for patients suffering from this long-term chronic condition.

CONCLUSIONS: Medical providers should consider targeting suicide risk screening for patients with any mental disorder, TBI, epilepsy, HIV, psychogenic pain, stroke, and migraine. When suicide risk is detected, counseling on reducing access to lethal means should include both firearms and other means for at-risk groups.

Cause-specific mortality in the Kombewa health and demographic surveillance systems site, rural Western Kenya from 2011-2015.
CONCLUSIONS: The analysis established the main CODs among people of all ages within the area served by the Kombewa HDSS. We hope that information generated from this study will help better address preventable deaths in the surveyed community as well as help mitigate negative health impacts in other rural communities throughout the Western Kenya region.
