Molecular and pathological characterization of natural co-infection of poultry farms with the recently emerged Leucocytozoon caulleryi and chicken anemia virus in Egypt
AbstractIn the summers of 2018 and 2019, a disease outbreak stroke 25 broiler chicken farms and 3 broiler breeder farms in different Governorates in Egypt. The disease caused a mortality rate ranging from 3.2 to 9%. Postmortem examination showed petechial hemorrhage in the breast and thigh muscles, thymus gland, and peritoneal cavity and extensive hemorrhages in the kidneys. Risk of Hemorrhagic Stroke in Patients With Coronavirus Disease 2019
To the Editor We read with interest the article by Merkler et al regarding the increased incidence of ischemic stroke in patients with coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) compared with those with influenza. The authors also reported that 13% of patients with COVID-19 were receiving anticoagulation at the time of the stroke. Could the authors comment on the rate of anticoagulant use in patients with COVID-19 who did not have an ischemic stroke? This would also be helpful to assess the possibility that anticoagulation may have been protective.

Increased Plasma Matrix Metalloproteinase-9 Levels Contribute to Intracerebral Hemorrhage during Thrombolysis after Concomitant Stroke and Influenza Infection
Conclusion: Preexisting influenza A virus infection led to increased plasma MMP-9 and TIMP-1 levels in mice undergoing thrombolysis after induced stroke. MMP-9 levels closely correlated with intracerebral bleeding after thrombolysis during concomitant infection and stroke. Thus, our data indicate that thrombolysis may be dangerous during influenza infection. A cloudy story: Guillain–Barré syndrome concealed by a spontaneous intracerebral haemorrhage
We present a case of Guillain–Barré syndrome (GBS), probably associated with influenza vaccine, occurring in a patient some days after a spontaneous haemorrhagic stroke. A 79-year-old woman was admitted to the neurosurgery department after a sudden severe headache, dizziness, and progressive generalised weakness. She had a history of hypertension and paroxysmal atrial fibrillation in dicumarolic therapy. Head CT scan showed a haemorrhagic stroke in left cerebellum, with compression on the fourth ventricle.
