Case Report: Late-Onset Mitochondrial Disease Uncovered by Metformin Use in a Patient With Acute Verbal Auditory Agnosia
ConclusionsTo our knowledge, this is the first report of a patient having late-onset MELAS syndrome that manifested as acute verbal auditory agnosia, which was identified after the patient began using metformin. Metformin is known to inhibit mitochondrial function and could trigger clinical features of MELAS syndrome. We encourage clinicians to maintain a high level of awareness that diabetes mellitus can be caused by mitochondrial disease and to exercise caution in the prescription of metformin.

Outcome of neurocritical disorders, a multicenter prospective cross ‐sectional study
ConclusionThis study identified that near two-thirds of the patients required mechanical ventilation. Delayed admission was observed due to causes distributed between the medical side and patient side. The majority of patients were discharged from ICU with partial recovery.

The pattern of neurocritical disorders in multicenter in Khartoum State November 2020 to January 2021
ConclusionStroke was the dominant diagnostic pattern requiring intensive care unit admission. Mechanical ventilation was the major indication for admission. Establishing specialized neurocritical intensive care units is highly recommended.

HSV-Encephalitis Resembling Acute Cerebral Infarction in a Patient With Atrial Fibrillation: Beware of Stroke Mimics
Conclusion: HSV-encephalitis might occasionally result in the development of unilateral brain MRI lesions with extensive cytotoxic edema, resembling an acute ischemic stroke. Therefore, HSV-encephalitis must be considered in the differential diagnosis of acute ischemic stroke with atypical presentation. The presence of a significant dissociation between the brain MRI lesion volume and the neurological deficits, as well as certain brain MRI imaging discrepancies might serve as “red flags” to extend the diagnostic workup.

Neurological disorders seen during second wave of SARS-CoV-2 pandemic from two tertiary care centers in central and Southern Kerala
Conclusion: During the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic, CAND and PVND have been emerging. Association of some of these may be fortuitous; however it is worth mentioning as pathogenic mechanisms of COVID-19 affecting various organ systems still remain unclear. Moreover, this may be helpful in future studies designing management options.

Neurological manifestations of dengue fever
Conclusions: In this study of patients admitted with dengue, neurological complications due to dengue were seen in 2.64%. Encephalopathy, encephalitis and syncope were the commonest manifestations, followed by acute symptomatic seizures, intracranial haemorrhage and GBS. The entire neuroaxis can be involved in dengue infection. To the best of our knowledge, this is the largest reported study of neurological complications of dengue.
