Different impact of aspirin on renal progression in patients with predialysis advanced chronic kidney disease with or without previous stroke.
CONCLUSIONS: There was no significant benefit in preventing ischemic stroke in the patients with advanced CKD who received aspirin therapy. Increased stroke risk among patients with open-angle glaucoma: a 10-year follow-up cohort study.

Anticoagulation and antiplatelet therapy for stroke prevention in atrial fibrillation patients in clinical practice of district hospital in Poland.
CONCLUSIONS: (1). Despite of high stroke risk determined by both scales only 39% of patients received OAC. (2). In the analyzed material the independent predictive factor in this group for prescribing OAC at discharge was arterial hypertension (in accordance with recommendations) and: the younger patients age, no history of stroke/TIA and other than paroxysmal type of AF. (3). Practice of the usage of OAC and/or antiplatelet therapy in AF patients discharged from Polish district hospital was in concordance with current guidelines of ESC neither in 2006 nor 2010. The Impact of Acute Kidney Injury on the Long-term Risk of Stroke Kidney in Cardiovascular Disease
Conclusions The patients who recovered from AKI had a higher incidence of developing incident stroke and mortality than the patients without AKI, and the impact was similar to diabetes. Our results suggest that a public health initiative is needed to enhance postdischarge follow-up of renal function and to control the subsequent incidence of stroke among patients who recover from AKI after dialysis.

Exertional heat stroke in a young military trainee: is it preventable?
Conclusion It is clear that heat stroke does occur in military trainees while preventive strategies are being practiced. It is important for those who provide healthcare to soldiers to provide proper advice on how to identify impending heat stroke prior to any exercises resulting in severe physical exertion. Further, treating physicians should educate all military trainees about preventive strategies.

Identifying patients with atrial fibrillation with a single CHA 2 DS 2 -VASC risk factor who are at higher risk of stroke
ConclusionPatients considered at low or intermediate risk using traditional risk stratification schemes, with  ≥ 2 points using this proposed low-risk index (65–74 years old, diabetics or a combination of chronic renal failure and an additional risk factor), had an overall stroke risk that may justify anticoagulation therapy.

Which Comorbidities and Complications Predict Ischemic Stroke Recovery and Length of Stay?
Conclusions: Greater age and higher National Institute of Health Stroke Scale at admission were associated with both higher disability and longer LOS. Congestive heart failure, CRF, presence of arrhythmias, and development of acute renal failure were associated with greater LOS. The development of urinary tract infection caused higher disability.
