One-Year Clinical Outcomes With SAPIEN 3 Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement in High-Risk and Inoperable Patients With Severe Aortic Stenosis.
CONCLUSIONS: In this large, adjudicated registry of SAPIEN 3 HR and inoperable patients, the very low rates of important complications resulted in a strikingly low mortality rate at 1 year. Between 30 and 365 days, the incidence of moderate paravalvular aortic regurgitation did not increase, and no association between mild paravalvular leak and 1-year mortality was observed, although a small increase in disabling stroke occurred. Patients Selection for Left Ventriculoplasty and Mitral Valve Surgery in Non-Ischemic Dilated Cardiomyopathy
The operative indication for dilated cardiomyopathy (DCM) is controversial. Subjects were 20 non-ischemic DCM patients. Left ventriculoplasty and mitral valve repair were conducted. Cardiac index derived from forward stroke volume significantly increased after surgery (from 1.8  ± 0.6 to 2.4 ± 0.6, P = .001). One-year survival rate was 58%. Slope in preload recruitable stroke work relationship (Mw) was an independent predictor for survival after surgery (HR, 0.936; 95%CI, 0.894–0.980; P = .005). Cut-off value of Mw for one-year survival was 42.

The Effects of Levosimendan and Sodium Nitroprusside Combination on Left Ventricular Functions After Surgical Ventricular Reconstruction in Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting Patients.

Conclusion: In this large, nationwide study, preexisting VHD was associated with worse clinical outcomes in patients hospitalized for TTCM. Our results can guide future clinical decision-making regarding prompt risk factor identification for poor prognosis in TTCM patients. Clinical Profile and Consequences of Atrial Fibrillation in Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy.
Conclusions -Transient symptomatic episodes of AF, although relatively uncommon in HCM, are unpredictable in frequency and timing, amenable to effective contemporary treatments, and infrequently progress to permanent AF. AF is not a major contributor to heart failure morbidity, nor a cause of arrhythmic sudden death, and when treated is associated with low-disease-related mortality, no different than for patients without AF. AF is an uncommon primary cause of death in HCM virtually limited to embolic stroke, supporting a low threshold for initiating anticoagulation therapy.
