Equine β-defensin 1 regulates cytokine expression and phagocytosis in S. aureus-infected mouse monocyte macrophages via the Paxillin-FAK-PI3K pathway
In this study, we utilized a PI-3K inhibitor (PKI-402) to treat eBD-1 -treated S. aureus-infected macrophages in vitro. Our results revealed that PKI-402 decreased the expression of eBD-1-promoted TNF-α, IL-6, CXCL10, CD40, RANTES, and p65 mRNA. To further investigate the relationship between eBD-1 and phagocytosis, we examined the expression of paxillin and FcγRIII (CD16 receptor) using western blot and immunofluorescence techniques. Our findings demonstrated that eBD-1 enhanced CD16 and paxillin expression in S. aureus -infected macrophages. Considering the correlation between paxillin expression and focal adhesion kin...

Myeloid-associated differentiation marker is associated with type 2 asthma and is upregulated by human rhinovirus infection
ConclusionsOur studies show that in a mouse model of asthma and during RV-1B infection of primary human AECs, increased MYADM expression is observed. In the mouse model of asthma, MYADM expression was predominantly on the luminal side of airway epithelial cells. Additionally, MYADM expression was strongly associated with increases in inflammatory genes, which may contribute to more severe asthma and RV-linked asthma exacerbations.

Improvement of neurological recovery in the insomnia rats by Warming Yang Strategy through targeting SIRT4 by inhibiting inflammation and apoptosis
Warming Yang Strategy improve neurological recovery in insomnia rats through SIRT4 by inhibiting inflammation and apoptosis. This research might provide a novel insight for the prevention and treatment of insomnia through targeting SIRT4. AbstractThe incidence rate of insomnia is increasing, but the mechanism of it remains unclear. Warming Yang Strategy (WY) is a kind of Traditional Chinese Medicine, and it is proved to be effective in treating insomnia patients. The insomnia animal was established with chlorophenylalanine (PCPA). Morris water maze and open field test were performed to evaluate the influence of WY on the n...

S100A9 Regulated M1/M2 Macrophage Polarization in Interleukin-10-Induced Promotion of Malignant Pleural Effusion
In conclusion, S100A9 plays a vital role in the process of IL-10 deficiency-mediated MPE suppression by regulating M1/M2 polarization, thus influencing the tumor-migration capacity and apoptosis. This could result in clinically applicable strategies to inhibit the formation of MPE by regulating the polarization of MPE macrophages.PMID:37533789 | PMC:PMC10393522 | DOI:10.1155/2023/3473464

Primary microcephaly gene CENPE is a novel biomarker and potential therapeutic target for non-WNT/non-SHH medulloblastoma
ConclusionThe expression of CENPE in non-WNT/non-SHH MB was positively correlated with poor prognosis. CENPE may affect tumor progression by regulating cell cycle, p53 pathway, and immune infiltration. Hence, CENPE is highly likely a novel biomarker and potential therapeutic target for non-WNT/non-SHH MB.

IL-38 suppresses macrophage M1 polarization to ameliorate synovial inflammation in the TMJ via GLUT-1 inhibition
CONCLUSIONS: IL-38 is a novel anti-inflammatory factor that contributes to alleviating TMJ inflammation by inhibiting macrophage M1 polarization, thereby ameliorating chondrocyte inflammation and restoring TMJ homeostasis.PMID:37463548 | DOI:10.1016/j.intimp.2023.110619
