Nrf2 regulates the expression of NOX1 in TNF- α-induced A549 cells
In this study, we analyzed the potential regulatory role of nuclear factor erythroid-2-related factor 2 (Nrf2) on NADPH oxidase 1 (NOX1) in tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α)-induced inflammation and oxidative stress in human type II alveolar epithelial cells. In this study, A549 cells were transfected with Nrf2 siRNA and overexpression vectors for 6 h before being induced by TNF-α for 24 h. TNF-α upregulated the expression of NOX1 and Nrf2 in A549 cells. Furthermore, overexpression of Nrf2 could reduce TNF-α-induced NF-κB mRNA and protein expression after transfection with the Nrf2 siRNA vector, and the levels of IL-6,...

Preparation of Mesoporous Silica Nanocarriers Targeting Glucose-6-Phosphate Isomerase Inhibition and Application in the Treatment of Rheumatoid Arthritis
In conclusion, siG6PI-MSN effectively suppress the proliferation and invasive growth of synovial tissue and improve joint swelling and inflammatory infiltration, thereby preventing joint damage in RA. This carrier may be a new therapeutic measure for RA, with potential social and economic benefits.PMID:36610698 | DOI:10.1093/cei/uxac116

Ferroptosis is involved in PM2.5-induced acute nasal epithelial injury via AMPK-mediated autophagy
Int Immunopharmacol. 2023 Jan 4;115:109658. doi: 10.1016/j.intimp.2022.109658. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTPM2.5 is one of the main harmful environmental pollutants and can damage nasal epithelial carriers to worsen allergic rhinitis. Ferroptosis is a novel form of regulated cell death with iron-dependent lipid peroxidation. However, whether ferroptosis is involved in PM2.5-induced nasal epithelial injury has not been elucidated. To verify the vital role of ferroptosis in PM2.5-induced nasal epithelial injury and further explore the potential mechanism, we detected intracellular iron content, ROS release and lipid peroxi...

Sp1 Controls the Basal Level of Interleukin-34 Transcription
Immunol Invest. 2022 Dec 23:1-17. doi: 10.1080/08820139.2022.2157283. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTInterleukin-34 (IL-34) is a cytokine that plays important roles at steady state and in diseases. The induced or inhibited expression of IL-34 by stimuli has been deeply investigated. However, the regulation of IL-34 basal expression is largely unknown. The aim of this study is to investigate whether IL-34 expression is regulated by a general transcription factor Specificity Protein 1 (Sp1) at transcription level. By using bioinformatic software, four putative Sp1-binding sites overlapping GC boxes were found in the core prom...
