Knockdown of < em > lncRNA < /em > < em > MEG8 < /em > inhibits cell proliferation and invasion, but promotes cell apoptosis in hemangioma, via < em > miR ‑203 < /em > ‑induced mediation of the Notch signaling pathway
In conclusion, the findings of the present study suggested that lncRNA MEG8 knockdown may inhibit cell proliferation and invasion, but promote cell apoptosis in hemangioma via miR‑203‑induced mediation of the Notch signaling pathway.PMID:34713294 | DOI:10.3892/mmr.2021.12512

Role of Thrombospondin ‑1 in sepsis‑induced myocardial injury
Mol Med Rep. 2021 Dec;24(6):869. doi: 10.3892/mmr.2021.12509. Epub 2021 Oct 26.ABSTRACTSepsis often causes myocardial injury with a high mortality. The aim of the present study was to investigate the effects of thrombospondin‑1 (THBS1) on myocardial cell injury, oxi‑dative stress and apoptosis in sepsis. The expression of THBS1 mRNA in lipopolysaccharide (LPS)‑induced mouse primary cardiomyocytes was detected by reverse transcription‑quantitative PCR (RT‑qPCR). A eukaryotic small interfering (si)RNA expression vector was constructed and transfected into myocardial cells to knockdown THBS1 mRNA expression, which w...

Astaxanthin induces NADPH oxidase activation and receptor ‑interacting protein kinase 1‑mediated necroptosis in gastric cancer AGS cells
In conclusion, ASX induced necroptotic cell death by increasing NADPH oxidase activity, ROS levels, LDH release and the number of propidium iodide‑positive cells, as well as activating necroptosis‑regulating proteins, RIP1/RIP3/MLKL, in gastric cancer AGS cells. The results of this study demonstrated the necroptotic effect of ASX on gastric cancer AGS cells, which required NADPH oxidase activation and RIP1/RIP3/MLKL signaling in vitro.PMID:34608499 | DOI:10.3892/mmr.2021.12477

NF ‑κB/IκBα signaling pathways are essential for resistance to heat stress‑induced ROS production in pulmonary microvascular endothelial cells
Mol Med Rep. 2021 Nov;24(5):814. doi: 10.3892/mmr.2021.12454. Epub 2021 Sep 24.ABSTRACTThe results of a previous study demonstrated that heat stress (HS) triggered oxidative stress, which in turn induced the apoptosis of epithelial cells. These results uncovered a novel mechanism underlying the activation of NF‑κB in primary human umbilical vein endothelial cells. The present study aimed to further investigate the role of NF‑κB/IκBα signaling pathways in the inhibition of HS‑induced reactive oxygen species (ROS) generation and cytotoxicity in endothelial cells. The results of the present study demonstrated that H...
