Probiotics for the Treatment of Gastric Diseases
Nutr Cancer. 2022 Apr 20:1-7. doi: 10.1080/01635581.2022.2067335. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTCommon gastric diseases include chronic gastritis, gastric ulcers and gastric cancer. The etiology of gastric diseases is complicated, including genetics, diet, excessive smoking and drinking, environmental factors, and bacterial infections. As live microorganisms, probiotics can confer health benefits to the host. At present, probiotics have been widely used in the preparation of foods, health products, and medicines. Due to their positive effects in improving diarrhea, constipation, alleviating allergies, enhancing immunity, a...

Mitomycin C allergy after passive and device-assisted hyperthermia for non-muscle invasive bladder cancer treatment: A retrospective cohort from a high-volume center
CONCLUSION: MMC allergy risk is increased with the use of device-assisted hyperthermia with an incidence of 2.4% for passive MMC and 6.9% for CHT. History of prior allergies does not seem to increase the risk of developing MMC allergy. In this series 38% of suspected cases were found to be pseudo-allergic reactions, highlighting the need to confirm the diagnosis before definitively stopping the treatment.PMID:35430137 | DOI:10.1016/j.urolonc.2022.02.018

Pineal germinoma in a young adult: A case report
CONCLUSION: Although this is a case report, these data suggest that a reduced NC course and WVR may effectively treat adult GN. This protocol likely decreases the risk of undesirable NC and RT secondary effects, while providing excellent local control; however, using a narrower RT field is not recommended.PMID:35347869 | DOI:10.1002/cnr2.1611

C-type lectin-(like) fold - Protein-protein interaction patterns and utilization
Biotechnol Adv. 2022 Mar 14:107944. doi: 10.1016/j.biotechadv.2022.107944. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTThe C-type lectin-like fold (CTL fold) is a building block of many proteins, including saccharide-binding lectins, natural killer cell receptors, macrophage mannose receptor, selectins, collectins, snake venoms and others. Some are important players in innate immunity and are involved in the first-line response to virally infected cells or cancer cells, some play a role in antimicrobial defense, and some are potential targets for fight against problems connected with allergies, obesity, and autoimmunity. The structure o...

Computer-Aided Drug Design of Anti-inflammatory Agents Targeting Microsomal Prostaglandin E2 Synthase-1 (mPGES-1)
Curr Med Chem. 2022 Mar 17. doi: 10.2174/0929867329666220317122948. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTInflammation is a natural process in response to external stimuli associated with organism protection. However, this reaction could be exaggerated, leading to severe damages related to physiopathological processes, such as rheumatoid arthritis, cancer, diabetes, allergies, infections, among others. Inflammation is mainly characterized by pain, increased temperature, flushing, and edema, which can be controlled using anti-inflammatory drugs. In this context, prostaglandin E2 (PGE2) inhibition has been targeted for designing new...

Draft Genome Sequences of Three Airborne < em > Aspergilli < /em > Series < em > Versicolores < /em >
Mycobiology. 2022 Feb 21;50(1):66-68. doi: 10.1080/12298093.2022.2028437. eCollection 2022.ABSTRACTThe Aspergilli of the section Nidulantes series Versicolores are among the most recurrent molds in indoor environments. These species cause damage to the quality of air. Indeed, they are responsible for allergies, aggravation of asthma and can even cause infections in immunocompromised patients. Molds belonging to the Versicolores series also produce sterigmatocystin, a mycotoxin classified as potential human carcinogen by the International Agency for Research on Cancer (group 2B). Here, we provide for the first time the geno...
