Nanoparticle-Based Inhalation Therapy for Pulmonary Diseases
Curr Drug Metab. 2022 Aug 3. doi: 10.2174/1389200223666220803103039. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTThe lung is exposed to various pollutants and is the primary site for the onset of various diseases, including infections, allergies, and cancers. One possible treatment approach for such pulmonary diseases involves direct administration of therapeutics to the lung so as to maintain the topical concentration of the drug. Particles with nanoscale diameters tend to reach the pulmonary region. Nanoparticles (NPs) have garnered significant interest for applications in biomedical and pharmaceutical industries because of their uniq...

Pro-inflammatory diet associated with low back pain in adults aged 50 and older
CONCLUSIONS: Results from this study indicate a role of pro-inflammatory diets in the development of low back pain. Nurses can screen for those consuming pro-inflammatory foods, and thus, are vulnerable to back pain, and aid in the delivery of tailored nutritional education. Future studies should investigate how diet affects low back pain diagnosis and chronicity relative to pain phenotypes.PMID:35840267 | DOI:10.1016/j.apnr.2022.151589

Molecular links between allergy and cancer
Trends Mol Med. 2022 Jul 4:S1471-4914(22)00158-7. doi: 10.1016/j.molmed.2022.06.003. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTEpidemiologic studies show both positive and negative associations between allergies and cancer. Allergic diseases may protect against tumorigenesis by promoting the immune surveillance, while carcinogenesis may be promoted through inflammatory responses from allergies. Histamine receptor antagonists are the focus of recent cancer studies because of their promising beneficial effect on tumor development. Also, cytokines, particularly IL-4 or IL-33, IgE as well as allergy-related immune cells such as eosinophil...

TSLP protects against sepsis-induced liver injury by inducing autophagy via activation of the PI3K/Akt/STAT3 pathway
CONCLUSION: These results suggest that TSLP can improve liver injury caused by sepsis and its specific mechanism may be related to inducing autophagy through the PI3K/Akt/STAT3 signaling pathway.PMID:35751928 | DOI:10.1016/j.prp.2022.153979

Loco-regional treatment of hepatocellular carcinoma: Role of contrast-enhanced ultrasonography
World J Hepatol. 2022 May 27;14(5):911-922. doi: 10.4254/wjh.v14.i5.911. Epub 2022 Apr 7.ABSTRACTHepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is one of the few cancers for which locoregional treatments (LRTs) are included in international guidelines and are considered as a valid alternative to conventional surgery. According to Barcelona Clinic Liver Cancer classification, percutaneous treatments such as percutaneous ethanol injection, radiofrequency ablation and microwave ablation are the therapy of choice among curative treatments in patients categorized as very early and early stage, while transcatheter arterial chemoembolization is ...
