Genes, Vol. 14, Pages 256: Molecular Characterization and Phylogenetic Analysis of Casein Gene Family in Camelus ferus
This study investigated the evolutionary relationship, physiochemical characteristics, and comparative genomic analysis of the casein gene family (CSN1S1, CSN2, CSN1S2, and CSN3) in Camelus ferus. Molecular phylogenetics showing the camelid species clustered casein nucleotide sequences into four groups: CSN1S1, CSN2, CSN1S2, and CSN3. The casein proteins from camels were evaluated and found to be unstable, thermostable, and hydrophilic. CSN1S2, CSN2, and CSN3 were acidic, but CSN1S1 was basic. CSN1S1 showed positive selection for one amino acid (Q), CSN1S2 and CSN2 for three (T, K, Q), and CSN3 showed no positive selection...

Identification of KIT and BRAF mutations in thyroid tissue using next-generation sequencing in an Ecuadorian patient: A case report
ConclusionsThis report represents the genetic characteristics of papillary thyroid cancer in an Ecuadorian woman with a mainly Native American ethnic component. Further studies of pathological variants are needed to determine if the combined demographic and molecular profiles are useful to develop targeted treatments focused on the Ecuadorian population.

Lipid nanoparticles technology in vaccines: Shaping the future of prophylactic medicine
Colloids Surf B Biointerfaces. 2022 Dec 20;222:113111. doi: 10.1016/j.colsurfb.2022.113111. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTThroughout decades, the intrinsic power of the immune system to fight pathogens has inspired researchers to develop techniques that enable the prevention or treatment of infections via boosting the immune response against the target pathogens, which has led to the evolution of vaccines. The recruitment of Lipid nanoparticles (LNPs) as either vaccine delivery platforms or immunogenic modalities has witnessed a breakthrough recently, which has been crowned with the development of effective LNPs-based vacc...

IJERPH, Vol. 20, Pages 678: Health Effects of Exposure to Indoor Semi-Volatile Organic Compounds in Chinese Building Environment: A Systematic Review
arium Ahmad People spend a considerable portion of their lives indoors; thus, the quality of the indoor environment is crucial. Semi-volatile organic compounds (SVOCs) are among the primary indoor pollutants responsible for various health risks. This paper systematically reviews the impact of SVOC exposure on human health in Chinese built environments. Based on a set of criteria, we judged 12 publications as providing sufficient information on both SVOC exposure and health effects to inform the relationship. Out of six studies on polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs), three observed a positive association between PAH...

Be Prepared For The Next Pandemic
Whether pro-vaccine or anti-vaccine, you’re not getting the complete Covid picture. That’s why it’s so important that you take steps to protect yourself. When it comes to this virus, the truth is a moving target. This is partly because the virus is evolving but mostly because we just don’t have the data we need to make a truly informed decision. And here’s one narrative no one is talking about… Studies show that chemicals commonly found in food and consumer products weaken your immune system and make the symptoms of Covid worse — especially among those who are already vulnerable.1 You see, these toxins in...

Microalgal Carotenoids: Therapeutic Application and Latest Approaches to Enhance the Production
Curr Issues Mol Biol. 2022 Dec 9;44(12):6257-6279. doi: 10.3390/cimb44120427.ABSTRACTMicroalgae are microscopic photosynthetic organisms frequently found in fresh and marine water ecosystems. Various microalgal species have been considered a reservoir of diverse health-value products, including vitamins, proteins, lipids, and polysaccharides, and are broadly utilized as food and for the treatment of human ailments such as cancer, cardiovascular diseases, allergies, and immunodeficiency. Microalgae-derived carotenoids are the type of accessory pigment that possess light-absorbing potential and play a significant role in met...
