Cutaneous adverse effects of antiepileptic drugs
Therapie. 2023 Oct 4:S0040-5957(23)00141-5. doi: 10.1016/j.therap.2023.09.005. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTAntiepileptic drugs (AED) are widely used in therapy. They are mainly indicated in the treatment of epilepsy and some psychiatric pathologies as well as for their analgesic action. Their cutaneous adverse effects (CAE) are common, often mild but sometimes serious. The aim of this work was to study the epidemiological and clinical features of CAE occurring in adults and elderly patients (aged over 20 years-old) and to identify the most implicated AED. We conducted a descriptive retrospective study over a period of fi...

Combined Oxidative Phosphorylation Deficiency Type-13 with Perinatal Presentation: A Case Report
CONCLUSION: The early and severe Leigh-like presentation of our patient expands the phenotype spectrum of this disease. As far as we know, this is the first reported case of PNPT1 mutation with onset in the perinatal period. Moreover, hypertrophic cardiomyopathy has not yet been described in association with mutation of the PNPT1 gene. WES was the key for early diagnosis in this patient. It should be done in all children with severe clinical presentation of unknown origin.PMID:37861028 | DOI:10.2174/0118715303274239231005105248 (Source: Endocrine, Metabolic and Immune Disorders Drug Targets)

The impact of epilepsy and antiseizure medications on sleep: Findings from a large European survey in adults with epilepsy and matched controls
CONCLUSIONS: PWE experience significantly worse sleep quality than people without epilepsy, with some ASMs contributing to poorer sleep. QoL and physical and mental health were all affected by sleep quality in PWE.PMID:37862873 | DOI:10.1016/j.yebeh.2023.109481 (Source: Epilepsy and Behaviour)

Anticonvulsant effects of isopimpinellin and its interactions with classic antiseizure medications and borneol in the mouse tonic-clonic seizure model: an isobolographic transformation
CONCLUSIONS: The most intriguing interaction was that for ISOP + VPA, for which the addition of BOR evoked a transition from antagonism to synergy in the mouse MES model.PMID:37821793 | DOI:10.1007/s43440-023-00532-x (Source: Pharmacological Reports)
