Parathyroid carcinoma: impact of preoperative diagnosis on the choice of surgical procedure
In conclusion, the surgical procedure for parathyroid carcinoma strongly depends on the preoperative diagnosis. The presence of excessive iPTH levels might contribute to improved preoperative diagnostic sensitivity for parathyroid carcinoma.PMID:37635058 | DOI:10.1507/endocrj.EJ23-0149 (Source: Endocrine Journal)

Molecules, Vol. 28, Pages 6042: Improved Process for the Synthesis of 3-(3-Trifluoromethylphenyl)propanal for More Sustainable Production of Cinacalcet HCl
Piccolo Cinacalcet (I), sold as hydrochloride salt, is a calcimimetic drug which has been approved for the treatment of secondary hyperparathyroidism in patients with chronic renal disease and for the treatment of hypercalcemia in patients with parathyroid carcinoma. Here, an improved method for the synthesis of 3-(3-trifluoromethylphenyl)propanal (II), a key intermediate for the preparation of I, is described. The protocol required a Mizoroki–Heck cross-coupling reaction between 1-bromo-3-(trifluoromethyl)benzene and acroleine diethyl acetal, catalyzed by Pd(OAc)2 in the presence of nBu4NOAc (tetrabutyl...

Atypical parathyroid tumor: clinical and parathyroid hormone response to surgical treatment
CONCLUSION: Due to its rarity, there is a lack of specific indications in the management of APTs. Biochemical features observed in APT and PC can be related to similar biological behavior. However, some specific features observed preoperatively in some cases of PHPT might suggest presence of an APT, which could be helpful mostly in surgical and postoperative management. Further studies are required to confirm the results of the present preliminary report.PMID:37564944 | PMC:PMC10409632 | DOI:10.4174/astr.2023.105.2.76 (Source: Annals of Surgical Treatment and Research)
