Shadowing Ettiquete
So I have finally located a physician who has agreed to let me shadow him. He is a pain management and rehabilitation/ sports medicine physician. My question is what am I supposed to be doing while shadowing? Stand in the shadows or talking to the patient and physician? I doubt I should take notes as it probably wouldn't look right to the patient. I have never shadowed anyone so I don't know the rules, what I should be looking for, looking at etc.... Any help. Thank you all. (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Question about CME
What do the different categories of CME mean? I am using EMcrit and PEPID to gain CME. I think these are all AMA Category 1 Credit. My state requires 100 CME hours for renewal. So, if I have 100 credit 1 hours (all from EMCrit and PEPID), am I good? (Plus, a couple other state-specific requirements, like pain management, etc.) By the way, PEPID must be the absolute easiest way to get CME. I gained like 50 hours in the last few months just from using it at work. Pretty nifty. (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Caribbean MD vs Stateside DO
by nontraditional1 (Posted Wed Jul 02, 2014 12:15 am)Hello everyone.I just wanted to start off by saying that I really enjoy this forum and others like it.I am a very non-traditional pre-medical applicant. I am 46 years old and have been a very successful practicing DC in Texas for nearly twenty years. I have mainly a family chiropractic practice, however, I have a MD, DO and a PA that sublease in my office and do chronic pain management, and family practice respectively. I have always wanted to be a physician. I kind of fell into chiropractic by circumstance and not really by passion. I am very grateful for the sucess aff...

Common Opioid Use and Levels/Types
I recently finished my fellowship and am practicing with a large, well-respected, pain management group in a major city. I am currently covering vacation for one of the other docs and some of the patients are on levels of PO opioids approximately three times what I saw in fellowship. Also, some are on five and six times per day short acting. It seems to me that converting some of that to long acting makes for cleaner practice and more stable pain management for the patient. I am new to private practice and know only what I saw in fellowship. Can anyone suggest what mid-range practice constitutes in their area and how ...
