Dea training requirement
I can’t remember if I got this link from this forum, or from work. Regardless - this free training from NEJM is easy to do and gives you the 10 required credits. Pain Management and Opioids But here is my actual point - First, let me just say that I have mostly stopped giving long-term opioid therapy so really have little recent experience. When I do, I’ll give Nucynta, Butrans patch, or rarely, Tramadol. The training above is question/answer format - and you get to see how many... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Obligation to legacy patients
Have a doc in our practice that left for the VA. Was managing some chronic opiates. Not a lot of patients and most are on fairly reasonable amount of mme as he was working towards tapering. He was really the only one, for the most part, doing COT in our group. Because I'm newer to the group I was asked if I would take on management and because the other docs have zero interest. I reluctantly agreed but am not sure as to my obligation to their management. I'm in a state where marijuana is... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Back pain management
I'm almost 2 years out of training, still have some doubts regarding managing nontraumatic lower back pain in the ER: Obviously in people with no red flags, treat symptomatically and discharge. The main problem are these patient who usually have some worsening of their chronic back pain, coming in with some mild neuro complaint like one leg is starting to feel numb or a little weak, or some numbness in the groin. Assuming infectious workup is negative and they get a MRI non-con, always... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Pain Management Group
I recently left a large health system in the southeast US. Looking for other opportunities and I was offered an opportunity to provide interventional pain services to a hospital that’s outside of my non-compete radius. I would be employed by Pain Management Group and contracted to the hospital. They offer both 1099 and W2. I chose the latter. Anyone know of Pain Management Group? Any good or bad thoughts? Appreciate any input. Thanks! (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Thoughts on Job Offer
Looking for everyone’s opinion on the following offer: I have the opportunity to start a Pain Management practice for a large, multispecialty organization located in the Northeast. The group is composed of multiple different primary care and specialty practices (over 400 physicians-no Orthopedics or Neurosurgery) and I would be part of the Radiology Department (IR and Diagnostic Rads). The group is part of an MSO and there is no physician ownership of the practices. As I will be building... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)
