Caribbean MD vs Stateside DO

by nontraditional1 (Posted Wed Jul 02, 2014 12:15 am)Hello everyone.I just wanted to start off by saying that I really enjoy this forum and others like it.I am a very non-traditional pre-medical applicant. I am 46 years old and have been a very successful practicing DC in Texas for nearly twenty years. I have mainly a family chiropractic practice, however, I have a MD, DO and a PA that sublease in my office and do chronic pain management, and family practice respectively. I have always wanted to be a physician. I kind of fell into chiropractic by circumstance and not really by passion. I am very grateful for the sucess afforded me the last 2 decades and chiropractic has been great...but, it is finally time to finish what i started....My cumlative GPA is 3.4 (400+ college credits from undergrad, nursing, and chiropractic school).My pre-req/science GPA is a mere 2.9.My MCAT score from 1997 is N/A.I am taking MCAT this November.I plan on only applying to caribbean schools because of prior poor academic performance.Further, MD is the only option for me. (at least it was).I have dedicated the last six months of studying for the MCAT. I have taken multiple full lengths and am hitting 29-32 consistently.My verbal reasoning has been fluctuating, but it is improving every week.I still have 4 months to ace VR.My anticipated target MCAT score is 33.I have pretty much accepted the fact that no US school would even take a second look at me...and I have 4 chiropractic friends who are doin...
