I am a current second year medical student interested in surgery, and also the pediatric patient population. I have heard it is extremely competitive to match into a pediatric surgical fellowship from general surgery, but is the same true for pediatric orthopedics/ENT/urology etc? Not accommodating patients with opioid use disorder is a violation of the ADA act

Advice for a better lifestyle as a surgeon?
I shadowed an orthopedic surgeon over the summer in an outpatient setting owned by one of those large healthcare conglomerates. It was a phenomenal experience. And it really laid to rest my previously held belief that the job makes surgeons disillusioned, grumpy, and humorless (based on other doctors I had met). He was such a great guy, and an even better doctor. I could see myself doing what he does and being good at it.

DO matching Orthopedics

Prostate case: What is appropriate for reirradiation and how?
78 y/o with osteoporosis and good PS now 6 years out from EBRT alone for favorable intermediate risk prostate cancer. (T1c, PSA ~6, Gleason 3+4=7). Now with biochemical progression (most recent PSA 5.6 with PSA doubling time ~10.7 months). Restaging imaging, including axumin, demonstrates isolated activity at prostate base with involvement of SV.
What to do?
1. Observe (risk to life still low and DMFS probably pretty high at 7 years based on PSA doubling time)

The application cycle this season seems like its going to be a blood bath. The match rate will probably be less than 50% (1700 applicants and just 700ish spots). Male Orthopaedic Surgery residency applicants engaged in sexist, racist, misogynistic comments regarding fellow female applicants
This came to my attention recently when a female MS3 was talking about her upcoming electives and plans for applying to ortho. It’s absolutely reprehensible.
I am saddened, but unfortunately, not shocked, by this type of behavior. We all have to do better.

regenerative medicine key papers
I"m getting some pushback from my orthopedic partners regarding PRP and I need to summarize the current data for them.
There are so many papers out on PRP. I would appreciate your help if you could guide me to the seminal papers, or rather key papers with the best statistical evidence for PRP with key peripheral joint/tendon issues. (For knee OA, lateral epicondylitis, rotator cuff, etc). Key papers using PRP for other pathology, are also appreciated

MD/MS vs MD/MBA
