Is subspecialty fellowship required if pursuing academic neurology on a clinician-scientist track?
It seems that subspecialty training have become very common in neurology. I'm very interested in those NIH/NINDS R25 funded ~6-year neurology research track residencies that provide a "research fellowship" in the last two years, with the goal of preparing fellows for early career grant applications, but I'm unclear as to when subspecialty training occurs if one is on a research track, and could not find any good explanation on this... Considering MD/PhD--Need Guidance
Hi everyone! I am a confused premed in need of guidance. Since graduating in 2018, I've worked as a research assistant in a Neuroscience lab at a major academic hospital. I have since decided to pursue medicine, so I am currently wrapping up prereqs via DIY postbac (I was a science major but not a premed in undergrad) and am planning on taking the MCAT in late 2021. Up until recently figured I could still do research as an MD only. I am posting this because last past week I have had 2 PhDs... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Masters in Medical Science (which one should I choose)
Hi SDN, I got accepted into Mount Sinai's Masters in Biomedical Science program and USF's Masters in Medical Science Aging & Neuroscience program. I'm wondering if anyone knew anything about both programs and could give me some insight that would help me choose which program is best? Thanks in advance (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Are pre II holds an okay sign, or are they soft rejects?
Hi all...I applied to about 38 schools (about 50/50 MD DO split), and have to hear back from 20 more. I'm currently sitting on a state MD II, one state MD hold, and four DO holds (have not heard back from my state DO schools yet). Is this a good sign, or should I be worried? My MCAT is decent (513) but my science GPA is the likely weak link of my application (3.1-3.2 range) I hope I'm not being too neurotic...preparing best I can for my interview while passing the time as a pharmacy tech... Pre-Dental: What courses should I take for upper level biology electives?
Help! I am currently in a jam with which upper level science electives to take. Here are my options: immunology, cell biology, endocrinology, molecular genetics, pathophysiology, medical botany, neurobiology, and developmental biology. I am leaning towards neurobiology, pathophysiology, medical botany, and immunology. I would take developmental biology, but the professor that teaches it at my university is kind of a joke and I heard it's really easy. I don't want to waste my time even though... T20s that don't require/emphasize as much basic science/clinical research?
Hello! I'm wondering if there are any T20 or similar schools that might be more open to an applicant without a ton of basic science or clinical research experience? For reference, I have been in a neuroscience lab for three years and had one poster presentation, but haven't been very invested in the work. I'm very interested in community health and primary care, and I've focused more of my time on volunteering which I've loved. I also spent a summer on a qualitative research project for... Pursuing Regenerative Medicine as a Physician-Scientist
Hey all, I'm extremely interested in pursuing a physician-scientist approach towards regenerative medicine, and I want to get an education that specializes me in this broad research field -- with particular interest in regenerative cardiology and neurology. There are obviously other reasons for my wanting to become a physician, instead of just getting a Ph.D, but those details are irrelevant for my questions. I have a research background with cardiac stem cells. 1) Would it be worth my... Pursuing Regenerative Medicine as a Physician-Scientist (Source: Student Doctor Network)
