Do pubs from gap year(s) matter for residency apps?
I am on 3-4 publications from my time as a research tech in a basic science neurosurgical lab during a gap year. I am not a top 3 author on any of them. Do these matter at all? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

How did you know that this was the right path for you?
Hello again all of you wonderful people on this forum, it's me, the psychology undergrad. I've recently been doing some introspective work and toying with the idea of switching my career goals around. Basically, I'm conflicted on whether to pursue a psych PhD or a neuroscience PhD. I am extremely interested in both, but I just want to do a lot of science in my career, and I'm worried I won't necessarily get that with the psych PhD. I have always been drawn to research and hands on work much... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Utah MSTP vs Miami MD-phD vs Colorado "MSTP
Reposted from the Physician Scientist Forum: Sorry to make one of these, and at the risk of being neurotic, but I'm just struggling to even figure out how to start thinking through these. I haven't been accepted to all of these programs, but I will most likely end at one of these three based on my IIs so far. I have a friend that's moving with me wherever I go as well to attend grad school next year, so... the earlier I start thinking about housing etc the easier it will get. More so... Switching to pre-med senior year
Hi everyone, I am in need of advice. I am a senior at a small LAC and I've been thinking about changing back to pre-med. I was pre-med my first year but decided early on that it wasn't for me (e.g., I was an anxious first-year and feared failure so I tried my best to avoid it by taking humanities class which I was good at.). Over time, I opened myself more to STEM classes, taking comp sci, neuroscience, and advanced psych (I know, non-science course ...) lab classes. I decided to drop my bio... Neuropsychologists, did you ever consider pursuing a Neuroscience/bench science PhD?
I see a lot of posts comparing different careers, though none comparing neuroscience academia/industry and neuropsychology. Context: I originally set out in undergrad to go for a straight clinical psych PhD. Though before that I was pre-med (changed my path due to a positive, but informative, medical shadowing experience) and still hold a love for genetics/endocrinology/biology. Because of this love, I’ve collected my research experience in a behavioral neuroscience lab for about 2 years... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

I love to help people, but I don't like lab research (and am not good at it) -- can I still be a good doctor?
Hey everyone, currently working in a biology/neuroscience lab this summer and not enjoying it a ton. Not really enough conversation/human interaction for me. I like science, but I'd rather be applying it to help people. It feels a little robotic and boring, I guess. I guess what I'm wondering is -- is this common? Could I still be a good physician even if I'm mediocre at lab research/don't enjoy it? Does not enjoying wet lab research mean I won't enjoy being a doctor? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science PhD Program
Not much is said about this program on here. I recently learned from their website that starting last fall (this fall entering cohort too), students in the PhD clinical psychology program received %100 of their tuition waived for the 4 years in residence. I know they cannot guarantee a stipend/ fellowship be provided but stated that their students had been able to obtain research assistantships for a low amount per year (that can go towards housing etc..). Do you believe this program is... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)
