Research year in Medical School
Hi! I was wondering what people thought about taking a research year to help with applying to neuro. The field seems to value heavily value research and there are lots of MD/PhDs in the field. I came into medical school straight from undegrad. During undergrad, I was in a heavily basic science lab, ending up switching projects, and did not end up publishing anything. I'm worried that the fact neuro research seems to take so long to get good data + I have no leverage from undergrad will... Research year in Medical School (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Scientific Commercialization
I am an 24 year old international medical student from Europe, and about to start my diploma thesis (starting 4th year/6 years). There are many topics which I am interested in, especially drug design, drug targets, neuroscience, cancer pathways, organs-on-chips, smart drugs, ... I have prior research experience (not much; internship and summer school) and it is definetly something I want to pursue further (PhD programm, private sector). I am inclined to invest more time and energy in this... Scientific Commercialization (Source: Student Doctor Network)

What are you looking forward to in medical school?
Last thread about this was 2 years ago, and amidst this nail-biting, neurotically-infused app season, I thought it'd be nice to get our minds off II's and whatnot. So, positive thoughts! What are you most looking forward to in medical school? A specific topic? A new city? New friends? For me, I'm most excited to be surrounded by people just as interested in science in medicine as I am. My undergraduate school is absolutely overrun by Greek life (nothing against it) and I've... Help with school list (MD and DO)
Hello everyone, I am 26 years old and applying to med school. I have been trying to compile a school list for medical school and I am at a loss. I have an undergrad cgpa of 3.0 and sGPA of 2.77 (according to AMCAS and 3.0 in AACOMCAS-they counted my neuroscience courses toward the science gpa). I am planning on taking the MCAT on 9/2 (couldn't get a closer date for my area). I have completed a SMP and I received 3.78 gpa at Tulane. Edit: My cumulative science gpa (when combined is 3.3).... Do I even have a chance?
I'm 14 years old and if you can't tell by my username I want to be a neurologist. I've loved science since the third grade but I started loving neuro in sixth. I'm going to be a freshman in high school next year and I have two health related extracurriculars I'm going to start (volunteering at a hospital and a health club.) My dream is to become a neurologist but there is one problem, I'm really shy. I feel like I have no chance because of this. A few months ago I had a interview for... Do I even have a chance? UCSD: Switching from Bioinformatics Major to Physiology and Neuroscience???
Hi guys! So I'm going to be studying Bioinformatics at UCSD this fall. However, as someone who is planning to apply to medical schools, I worry about my GPA. Bioinformatics is a really tough major, and would require me to take a lot of unnecessary math and computer science courses (both subjects I'm not a big fan of). I think its a good choice for someone who wants to get into some sort of biotech company right out of college, but that's not my plan. And looking at the other pre-med... Is it too late for me to apply this cycle???
Hello! So basically I am hoping to apply to both M.D. and D.O. schools this summer, but I was just wondering if I could get some advice/insight on the timeline of my application. So some background: I just recently graduated this May with a degree in cell biology and neuroscience and a minor in psychology. My cumulative GPA is a 3.6 and my science GPA is a 3.4 (I got two C's in orgo 1 and 2, but everything else is in the A- B range). I was planning to take the MCAT in June, but I didn't... Advice Needed: Should I Quit Pre-Med?
Hey all, As some background info I am going to be a senior this year and my majors are psychology and neuroscience. I come from a very stereotypical Asian background where growing up, my parents drilled into my head that if I don't become a doctor or an engineer I'm basically a total failure and a disappointment. I took computer science in high school and was pretty bad at it despite finding it interesting (I was an all A student, but barely got a B- or C+ in the class), so when I went to...
