MD 30 MCAT, 3.61 cGPA 3.52 sGPA - upward trend, ECs
Okay everyone, I could really use some advice here. I just got my MCAT score and it is a 30 (11,8,11). My AAMC average was a 33 so I am extremely bummed about this. I am a New York resident. My cGPA is a 3.61 and sGPA is a 3.52 with a pretty extreme upward trend. Freshman Fall: 3.11 (C+ in General bio 1) Spring: 3.28 (B- in General bio 2) Fall: 3.3 Spring: 3.19 (B- in Analytical Chem and calculus 2) Summer (Physics 2 and lab taken at my university): 4.0 Fall: 4.0 Spring: 4.0 Fall: 3.96 Spring: 4.0 I graduated from a NY state school this past May. Some important science/math classes that I have received A's in are: C...

SMP, Post-bac, or PA School, and Advice for Very Likely Re-applicant
Here's my info: cGPA - 3.45 sGPA - 3.35 (as calculated by AMCAS) MCAT - 32L (BS: 12, PS: 10, VR: 10, WS: L) The low WR was likely a result of me not finishing either sample, as I am generally a very strong writer; I was on the last paragraph for both samples. Also, I'm not worried about this as it isn't even on the MCAT anymore. ECs - 2 years as an aid in a psychiatric hospital, 2 years as an aid on a med/surge unit, 3 months (currently employed) as a clinical research coordinator for cardiology, CT surgery, and IR clinical trials, 1 semester as a research assistant in a cognitive neuroscience lab, 2 years as a researc...

Planning for the Worst...
Howdy: I'm having a frustrating cycle. I've only received 2 interview invites (one complete and pending, the other in early March), from the 23 schools I've submitted my application to. I'm beginning to fear that I might have to reapply next cycle. I'm looking for some advice on how I should proceed. My GPA (especially my BCPM GPA) is clearly very weak. I'd love to think that I might get another interview or two...but I'm having a hard time accepting that on faith considering how quiet things have been. Would it be best if I just bit the bullet and applied for an SMP for 2013? Or are there alternatives that might suit me...

MD & DO Is DO even possible?
I really don't know what has happened to me. Maybe I got burnt out. My GPA is utterly disastrous...I'm at a 2.8 right now and didn't make good enough grades to pull my GPA up from a horrible sophomore year. I don't have any excuses either. My study habits are what need to be fixed, but I don't know how to give myself that daily motivation. In my heart, I have so much passion for medicine, but you'd probably ask me that if I supposedly do, why don't I have the numbers to show for it? I don't want to blame it on the fact that before college, I lived in a very strict and disciplined way and essentially was not allowed a...
