Psychology Department: Neuroscience
Someone told me a psych class that is Neuroscience was not counted as a science class for him. However, other friends have told me that it was... Does it vary? Can I verify before enrolling that it will be? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

3.71 cGPA, 3.70 sGPA, 513 MCAT
Hello everyone! I'mgetting ready to apply and I really wanted some input on what schools I should apply to. I am a NY resident. I know I might get some hate for saying this, but I have been extremely neurotic with my chances. I always see other kids posting here with 3.8s and 3.9s, questioning their chances and it makes my 3.70 look bad. And then there are those with higher gpas than mine who don't get in after 2 cycles which sounds like a nightmare. Science GPA: 3.70 Cumulative: 3.71 MCAT:... 3.71 cGPA, 3.70 sGPA, 513 MCAT (Source: Student Doctor Network)

3.0 GPA, 23 MCAT, Apply to Caribbean Schools? Or Re-take?
by heat48 (Posted Tue Sep 09, 2014 4:54 pm)Hello, I graduated from UCSD with a B.S. Physiology and Neuroscience, minor in Psychology with both a 3.0 overall and science GPA. I received a 23 on my MCAT. I volunteered in the hospital with about 250 hours complete, did about 3 -4 months of research, joined student groups at UCSD, and was a caregiver for my father who had a stroke throughout my whole undergrad. I know my chances at a U.S. school is slim to none, therefore, should I apply to a Caribbean school with these scores and background? Or re-take the MCAT? Or do something else? Thank You! Minimal background in Science
Hi everyone, I am intending to sit the GAMSAT in London 2014 (for Australian Medical schools). I have a BSc in Psychology and am currently finishing off my MSc in Cognitive Neuroscience (investigating systolic blood pressure fluctuations during tests of unconscious structural knowledge), and psychopharmacology, psychophyisiology and neuroanatomy/biology are my strong suits. However, I did lower-level Bio, Physics and Chemistry at A-levels (or the french equivalent in my case) so my understanding is very limited at the moment, particularly in Chemistry. Given that the exam is in March, and that I intend to hit the books...

MD & DO Constructive Criticism Needed
Wanted to get some feedback on my stats for past 5 years (super senior!). It's been a weird phase, being a transfer student and more a part-time pre med/full time musician for a good 3 years and then making a HUGE transition into wanting to pursue medicine not to boost my app but because of my genuine interest (the most cliche statement, I know). Applying 2014-2015 matriculation cycle. Academics: cGPA: 3.66 bcpmGPA: 3.6 MCAT: Will be taking between January and April 2014 Research: -Senior Honors Thesis: UCSD School of Medicine, Department of Internal Medicine, Div. of Gastroenterology, leukocyte trafficking in IBD;...

help with courseplan? feedback please!
Hi, So I have a 3.3 science gpa and a 3.45 cumulative gpa, I received 3 Cs in my sophmore year in BIO I AND II and Chem 1, however I am on an upward trend as in the last year I got a 4.0 both semesters and includes 5 science classes( took chem II, stats, and neuro in one semester and Physics and chem in next semester) However I received a W in organic chem 1. My question is I am a senior, and would like to raise my gpa up to atleast a 3.6 science before I apply, is it alright to take organic chem at a Community college and just do 2 classes per semester to try and get all As? I am obviously planning on delaying my undergr...

Slightly Freaking out- LOE
Okay so I have two Professor LOEs (No Committee in my school or whatever). They both teach science (Neuroscience) courses at my university. One prof has taught me behavioral pharmacology course (which technically falls under Psychology dept.) and will be teaching me a Neuroscience course this upcoming fall (which falls under science). The other prof has taught me Science course last year. Most schools ask for Profs from Faculty of Science. These two profs are neither technically from science faculty at my university, even though they teach science courses. Their research work though is intensive in areas such as Cortical P...

Advice on which SMP to choose.. LMU-DCOM or USC-South Carolina
Hi everyone, I am looking at two different SMP's and wondering which would be the best for me, given my stats, to gain admission to a D.O/M.D. program starting Fall 2014. First I will present my stats and then the programs I am looking at. I'm 24 with a B.S. in Biology. My overall GPA is a 3.25 and my science GPA is a 3.11. I have done 350 hrs shadowing physicians with 2 LOR (one MD and one DO) and 150 hrs volunteering in the ED. I have yet to take the MCAT, but am scheduled for June 20th, and plan to take at least 2 more times this summer (july & august). I have been studying through Kaplan test prep for a month and r...
