Cornell vs. Yale
Hi Everyone! I'm having a very difficult time choosing between these schools and would appreciate any advice. Basic vs. clinical research
Hi, I am a medical student currently interested in either neurology or neurosurgery. I understand that research is very important for applying to neurosurgery. I have a background in basic neuroscience research from before I came to medical school, and I am now getting involved in clinical research. Is it suggested to pursue a balance of both clinical and basic science research, or does it matter? Is one more respected over another? I see lots of people saying to just do clinical research... Cornell vs. Yale vs. Northwestern
Hi Everyone! I'm extremely grateful to have the opportunity to choose between these schools and would appreciate any and all advice. A little bit about me: I come from a low-income, first-gen, immigrant parent background (Latin America), so finances and being at a diverse school/city are extremely important to me. Interested in pursing neurosurgery (significant personal/scientific experiences) and academic medicine. Neurology if I decide surgery isn't for me lol. I'm also especially... Is this LOR considered a Science LOR?
Hi all, I am having so much trouble finding a second science LOR writer. It is 100% my fault, I went to a big university and graduated, and since a lot of classes were online due to COVID, I never took initiative to get really close to professors. I have one solid science LOR, from a neuroscience professor. I have another potential LOR writer, who taught a Language Science class that went towards my neuroscience degree. Would this letter from my language class professor be considered a... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Non US applicant
Hello guys! I am an international student in the US, and I will apply to medical school in the cycle of 2026 (currently in second year), and I want to know my chances and what can I do to maximize those chances. I am a neuroscience major, my cGPA is around 3.8 (sGPA 3.9), 125 clinical hours in my home country (pediatrics shadowing) and 100 clinical hours in the US (scribe), 50 hours of clinical neuroscience research. I plan on doing scientific research on personalized medicine and taking... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Would this count towards my BCPM gpa for AMCAS/TMDSAS?
I am a Neuroscience major and am planning on taking a course that falls under the Neuroscience department. However my main concern is that although the course that I am taking is classified as "NSC", the course description is more on the humanities side. I'm more confident that this course would apply towards my science gpa for TMDSAS but am still unsure about AMCAS. Is a course called "The Musical Brain" - Neuro 300 Considered in BCPM if cross-listed as music course?
Hi all, I got a less than ideal grade on a course I took as a freshman that I would rather not be included in my BCPM GPA. The course name is NBB (neuroscience) 300, but is also cross-listed as a music course (MUS 301). On my transcript, it shows NBB (neuroscience), but frankly the course was more music oriented than science oriented. If I listed the course as a music course rather than a science/neuroscience course, would this be considered dishonest? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Letter of recommendation requirement troubles from one specific school. Need advice
Summary here: I am a neuroscience major that has applied to ~20 schools with four LORs from significant figures related to my academic and professional life. All the schools, except one, has accepted them. I have strong ties to this school and they have considered two of my LORs as non-compliant with their specific science letter requirements. One LOR was disqualified because it was from a science study abroad course, and another was deemed a research letter, not a science one. Me, a wee... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)
