Cardiac Sarcoidosis which Occurred four Years after Successful Treatment of Cutaneous Sarcoidosis with Minocycline
Intern Med. 2024 Feb 26. doi: 10.2169/internalmedicine.3174-23. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTA 67-year-old woman was admitted to our hospital because of a complete right bundle branch block. She had been treated with minocycline for skin sarcoidosis and her symptoms had ameliorated four years previously. Gallium scintigraphy revealed an abnormal uptake in the heart but not in the skin or lungs. She was diagnosed with cardiac sarcoidosis, although an endomyocardial biopsy could not detect any sarcoid lesions. Immunohistochemical staining for Cutibacterium acnes was positive for granulomas of the skin lesions which had been...

Colistin resistance in carbapenem non-susceptible Acinetobacter baumanii in a tertiary care hospital in India: clinical characteristics, antibiotic susceptibility and molecular characterization
Mol Biol Rep. 2024 Feb 24;51(1):357. doi: 10.1007/s11033-023-08982-5.ABSTRACTINTRODUCTION: Acinetobacter baumanii (AB) is a bacterium of concern in the hospital setup due to its ability to thrive in unfavorable conditions and the rapid emergence of antibiotic resistance. Carbapenem resistance in this organism is disheartening, further clouded by the emergence of colistin resistance.AIM: The present prospective study aims to note the epidemiology, molecular profile, and clinical outcome of patients with colistin resistance AB infections in a multispecialty tertiary care setup in Odisha, Eastern India.METHODS: All AB strains...

Comparative evaluation of antimicrobial efficacy of triple antibiotic paste and amoxicillin clavulanate paste as an intracanal medicament against Enterococcus faecalis: An in vitro study
Conclusion: Considering the limitations of this in vitro study, the findings suggest that ACP couldbe an effective alternative intracanal medicament to TAP for endodontic therapy.Key Words: Amoxicillin ‑potassium clavulanate combination, antibacterial agent, calcium hydroxide, ciprofloxacin, Enterococcus faecalis, metronidazole, minocycline (Source: Dental Research Journal)

Genomic insights and antimicrobial resistance profiles of CRKP and non-CRKP isolates in a Beijing geriatric medical center: emphasizing the blaKPC-2 carrying high-risk clones and their spread
ConclusionIn summary, our study highlights the extensive spread of antibiotic-resistant K. pneumoniae across various departments in our hospital, with a particular emphasis on the dominant clonal proliferation of the ST11-KL47-OL101 CRKP strain. This finding underscores the significant role of plasmid-mediated gene transfer in the evolution and dissemination of resistant strains within hospital environments. The study emphasizes the necessity for ongoing surveillance of antibiotic resistance and genomic analysis in hospital settings to effectively monitor and manage these challenges. Minocycline hydrochloride ointment combined with Vitapex paste is effective for middle-aged and elderly patients with combined periodontal-endodontic lesions
CONCLUSION: MHO combined with Vitapex paste is effective for middle-aged and elderly patients with CPELs, which can effectively inhibit the patients' inflammatory reaction and improve their periodontal condition and QoL, with a low adverse reaction rate, so it is worthy of clinical promotion.PMID:38322572 | PMC:PMC10839384 (Source: American Journal of Translational Research)
