Sandwich-type electrochemical aptasensor based on hemin-graphite oxide as a signal label and rGO/MWCNTs/chitosan/carbon quantum dot modified electrode for sensitive detection of Acinetobacter baumannii bacteria
In this study, we present an electrochemical aptasensor based on a signal amplification strategy for the detection of A. baumannii, the high specificity and affinity of the aptamer for the target make it favorable for signal amplification. This allows for a highly sensitive and selective detection of the target. The aptasensor is based on a carbon screen-printed electrode (CSPE) that has been modified with a nanocomposite consisting of multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs), reduced graphene oxide (rGO), chitosan (CS), and a synthesized carbon quantum dot (CQD) from CS. Additionally, the self-assembled aptamers were immobi...

Assessing and Comparing Potential Allergenicity of Two Partially Hydrolyzed Whey ‐Based Formulas for Infants: A Population‐Based Study in China
ConclusionThe two PHF-Ws have notably high intolerance rates, exceeding 10% among infants with CMA. Therefore, suggesting that PHF-Ws may not be suitable for infants and children with CMA in China. (Source: Molecular Nutrition and Food Research)

Curry ‐Odorants and Their Metabolites Transfer into Human Milk and Urine
ConclusionThe transfer profiles of odorants into milk and urine differ qualitatively, quantitatively, and in temporal aspects. More substances are transferred into urine and the transfer needs a longer period compared with milk. Phase II metabolites are transferred into urine and milk. Nascent shifts in renal cellular metabolism, structure, and function due to chronic empagliflozin in prediabetic mice
Am J Physiol Cell Physiol. 2024 Apr 1;326(4):C1272-C1290. doi: 10.1152/ajpcell.00446.2023. Epub 2024 Mar 4.ABSTRACTSodium-glucose cotransporter, type 2 inhibitors (SGLT2i) are emerging as the gold standard for treatment of type 2 diabetes (T2D) with renal protective benefits independent of glucose lowering. We took a high-level approach to evaluate the effects of the SGLT2i, empagliflozin (EMPA) on renal metabolism and function in a prediabetic model of metabolic syndrome. Male and female 12-wk-old TallyHo (TH) mice, and their closest genetic lean strain (Swiss-Webster, SW) were treated with a high-milk-fat diet (HMFD) plu...

The effect of ginger (Zingiber officinale L.) liquid extract on growth, immune response, antioxidant defence mechanism, and general health of Holstein calves
This study was carried out to examine the effects of ginger liquid extract (GLE) on the growth, immune response, antioxidative defence mechanism, and general health of Holstein calves. Sixteen calves (4-d old) were included in the experiment and randomly assigned to groups, and they were fed whole milk containing GLE at a rate of 0, 0.50, 0.72, and 1% of the milk amount consumed. Calves consuming 1% GLE were weaned at an earlier age and gained better body weight (BW) compared to the other groups. The group fed with 0.50% GLE consumed less daily starter than the other groups. The administration of GLE resulted in a non-sign...

N-terminal signals in the SNX-BAR paralogs Vps5 and Vin1 guide endosomal coat complex formation
Mol Biol Cell. 2024 Apr 10:mbcE24010043. doi: 10.1091/mbc.E24-01-0043. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTEndosomal coats incorporate membrane-binding subunits such as sorting nexin (SNX) proteins. The Saccharomyces cerevisiae SNX-BAR paralogs Vin1 and Vps5 are respective subunits of the endosomal VINE and retromer complexes whose dimerizing BAR domains are required for complex assembly and membrane association. However, a degree of promiscuity is predicted for yeast BAR-BAR pairings, and recent work has implicated the unstructured N-terminal domains of Vin1 and Vps5 in coat formation. Here, we map N-terminal signals in both SN...
