Challenge/Unique Individual Secondary Question Advice
The prompt is: What makes you a unique individual? What challenges have you faced? What have you learned from your experiences? I was originally thinking of discussing more on a topic I mentioned in my PS about my struggles with becoming allergic to milk when I was a teenager (I realize this might be a really lame challenge and am wondering if I should dig deeper OR if since I already briefly mentioned this in my PS is it not worth diving deeper on?). I was also considering writing about... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

PGY-3 is not the land of milk and honey I was promised
Alright, maybe it wasn’t exactly promised. But there is a definite, pervading narrative at my program that PGY-2 is the bad year. You just gotta get through PGY-2. “Only a month left of PGY-2! Dude you’re almost there!!” And on and on. And in terms of hours spent at work, PGY-2 is our worst. BUT! I’m finding myself utterly drained by 4-5pm, pretty much every week day so far this year. So much so that I’m wondering if there’s something going on with me. Short of some kind of organic thing... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Can presenting my abstract at this conference have any positive impact on my application? (Gap Year Student)
I am currently in my 2nd gap year and a professor I still keep in touch with recommended that I apply to present an abstract paper at a conference sponsored by a branch of the National Association for African American Studies (NAAAS) dedicated to Hispanic studies. After getting it accepted I realized it’s very expensive ($225) and a long drive from where I live. It seems to be one of the conferences that basically accepts any abstract. I have other presentations/publications from undergrad... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Polio news has me feeling like a clown
Just a bit of a vent post. On my AMCAS "Why MD/PhD" essay, I wrote to the effect being inspired by Salk's work and how we were on the verge of defeating polio for good. With the recent news of poliovirus spreading in New York and potentially infecting hundreds or more, it feels like my application aged like milk. It definitely goes to show the ongoing struggle that doctors and scientists face when pushing against both the nature of infectious agents and the nature of humans, too. It's... cpje is stupid
the exam is lame. i've decided that i'll probably be doing part time pharmacist work eventually. the plan is to pay off my loans within the next 2 years with the help of my business income, work full time for like 3 more months debt free just to milk in the cash, then tell my manager i wanna step down to part time. then maybe do that for like 3-6 months, enjoy my excess free time and work on other areas of my life, then either quit the job or say if they can keep me on, cause i wanna take 2... cpje is stupid (Source: Student Doctor Network)
