Physician-aid-in-dying evaluations
I've recently learned of psychologists offering to do fitness evaluations for people who have made the decision to terminate their lives in states where it's legal. My understanding is that it's not a requirement because doctors can simply sign off on it without input from a psychologist/psychiatrist, but some will refer because they want some assurance the person is "of sound mind," whatever that means.
I wanted to gauge SDN opinion on this. Anyone do these? Are they ethical? Let's discuss. (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Ethical dilemma
What is the ethical dilemma around surgeons performing elective procedures on HIV positive patients? Maybe I am just completely oblivious, but with our technology and PPE today, can't surgeons be fully protected? Why is this an ongoing ethical dilemma? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Mid-Level School after Medical School
Hello SDN Member,
I'd like to ask; Are there any members of this community that have gone to nursing or PA school after medical school? Please Comment below and Share your experiences with us?
Also I'd like to ask. If you do go to mid-level school after going to medical school, what are you professionally? Are you still a Doctor? Do you have the same ethical responsibilities as a doctor? Should you even keep up the happenings of the physician world if you make such a switch?

MMI Role-Playing Scenarios
Anyone who has experience with MMIs - did you practice the acting/role-playing types of scenarios prior to your interviews?
I feel fairly comfortable discussing an ethical dilemma or participating in a teamwork activity, but the "acting" scenarios are throwing me off and I doubt I'll be able to legitimately practice those prior to my MMIs.
I know every school is different, but are most MMIs usually those acting types of scenarios or are they usually hypothetical discussion (ex: what would...

Thoughts on disclosing ADHD diagnosis in ERAS personal statement?
I talked about about my ADHD in my personal statement. It's not the main focus, but I used it as an introductory point that sets the path to discuss cultural stigmas against mental health care, my desire to work with families, and the work ethic/skills I've developed as a result of my ADHD. Am I playing a dangerous game? There is a part of me that worries that this may raise a red flag to potential programs. Des anyone here have any thoughts? Thanks everyone!
