NeuraLink to spy on pre-med's thoughts good for society? (Medical Ethics)
With the recent announcement from Elon Musk that NeuraLink's brain computer interface is operational, it is now possible for implanted people's thoughts to be remotely monitored--"telepathic" surveillance, in other words. As a thought experiment, do you think that ADCOMMs should partner with NeuraLink to implant pre-med students with this device to assess them as candidates? If so, do you think that ADCOMMs should have to gain... NeuraLink to spy on pre-med's thoughts good for society? (Medical Ethics) (Source: Student Doctor Network)

15+ years from now, how difficult will it be to get into med school? Avg GPA/MCAT thoughts?
I'm especially curious as to what adcoms think! Accepted GPA and MCAT have been rising steadily for the past few years. I'm curious how competitive the process will be in the future as it seems super competitive right now. Here are my thoughts: I think an ethical CASPer-esque section will be created by the AAMC, maybe added to the MCAT? I also think some research experience will become a requirement for most schools. ECs will become even more important. Avg age will go... 15+ years from now, how difficult will it be to get into med school? Avg GPA/MCAT thoughts? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Ethical Dilemma
I came across an issue today. I inherited a patient with a Dx of MDD with psychotic Fx. Upon speaking to her it was very clear she was malingering to get disability. This became more clear with chart review. She was not on an antipsychotic. My attending agreed with me that she is malingering but states because she already carries this diagnosis but is not on an antipsychotic and I should start 2.5mg Abilify otherwise the previous notes could cause potential trouble. I disagree as I do not... Ethical Dilemma (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Ethics OSCE
In reviewing the content outline for the OSCE, all of the sections make sense except for the ethics one. It just seems like a laundry list of potential ethical issues in no particular order, and I can't imagine what the graders will want me to demonstrate in the standardized patient interaction. Without violating any confidentiality agreements with the ABA, can anyone help give me some idea of what to expect? I... Ethics OSCE (Source: Student Doctor Network)

MMI Interview Tips
For those who have interviewed at MMI schools, what did you find helpful? Alternatively if you have not interviewed yet/are a current applicant, what resources have you found helpful? Thought we could make a thread to talk about logistics (most schools I know are 8min per station, 8-10 stations), strategy (summarize question, highlight ethical issues, highlight both points, highlight responsibilities, decision, justify), and interview day tips (do you get a notecard? How do people organize... MMI Interview Tips (Source: Student Doctor Network)

How many people come prepared to MMI Interviews and how are they "graded"
Basically the title but how many applicants would you venture to say come to the MMI pretty unprepared (i.e, giving a one sided answer to an ethical dilemma right away for example)? On the one hand, I feel like if they got to the interview stage, almost all of them should know that they need to prepare. On the other hand, I feel like some people probably just wing it. Also, what is the type of rubric used to evaluate candidates in the interview? For example, maybe 1 point for acknowledging... Ethics of Fee Splitting in Group Practices
Hello all! I’m currently funemployed and waiting for my license to come through from the board. I’ve been thinking about joining up with a psychologist who has a successful, thriving, cash-only private practice. I’ve never done private practice work before, and I’ve been having some concerns about how the whole business model is set up. To preface, I’ve done a TON of googling, perused through the ethics code and state laws, but I still can’t determine how legit this is. So, long story... Low step score, low grades, no research. What can I even do
I'm a US MD student at a low tier school in the northeast. I got a 222 on Step 1 despite getting a 240 on Uworld 2. I guess I deserved it since I only did 50% of uworld. I'll try to do better on step 2. I'm in the bottom 1/3 of my class for sure because of my poor work ethic during my first two years. Didn't do research in med school and did some research in undergrad I didn't get published for. As of now, what are my prospects? I'm really only considering EM, IM + fellowship (cardio/GI??)... Please, help me re-find this brochure!
Hi. I'm hoping someone can help me. A few weeks ago I found a brochure on SDN that a member made that was a Guide to Applying to Dental School. It had a lot of great info. The brochure was not downloadable, so I couldn't save it. Now I cannot seem to find it again! It was created by a female, in about 2017, was designed to look like a multipage brochure with photos, etc. It had info about application, schools, interviews types, common interview questions, ethical vocabulary... Lots of good... Please, help me re-find this brochure! (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Response to ethical dilemma question
Hey everyone, For one of my supplemental applications, I have to talk about an ethical dilemma. I can only think of one and I wanted to get some opinions on whether or not this is even considered an ethical dilemma. Last semester, I was assigned a group project to work on with four other students in a class. Unfortunately, they had little motivation to do well in the class and only wanted to pass. So I was left to do most of the work for the group, even telling them what to say during the... Response to ethical dilemma question (Source: Student Doctor Network)

2 questions about CASPer
1. Will the CASPer test results hold up your secondary app being reviewed? Can it be taken later this summer without impacting your apps? 2. Has anyone actually used a prep test service like the following? Official CASPer SIM™ practice CASPer® Tests | APE Advisor Prep® Worth it or waste of $$?
