Physician-aid-in-dying evaluations

I've recently learned of psychologists offering to do fitness evaluations for people who have made the decision to terminate their lives in states where it's legal. My understanding is that it's not a requirement because doctors can simply sign off on it without input from a psychologist/psychiatrist, but some will refer because they want some assurance the person is "of sound mind," whatever that means. I wanted to gauge SDN opinion on this. Anyone do these? Are they ethical? Let's discuss.
