Carotid Ultrasound Combined with Plasma Atherosclerosis Index (AIP) in the Severe Analysis of Coronary Heart Disease Treated with Atorvastatin
CONCLUSION: The combined assessment of AIP and carotid ultrasonography emerges as a promising approach for evaluating the severity of CHD. Notably, the multi-vessel disease group exhibited higher AIP levels compared to the single-vessel disease group, along with increased IMT and carotid artery stenosis. Our findings highlight a positive correlation between AIP and IMT, as well as between IMT and the degree of carotid stenosis. These associations underscore the potential of AIP, in conjunction with carotid ultrasonography parameters, as valuable indicators for gauging CHD severity. The clinical implications of these findin...

Statins Do Not Significantly Affect Oxidative Nitrosative Stress Biomarkers in the PREVENT Randomized Clinical Trial
Conclusions: Atorvastatin demonstrated very modest effects on oxidative/nitrosative stress biomarkers in this low cardiovascular risk population. Our findings provide potential mechanistic insight into the lack of effect of atorvastatin on LVEF in the PREVENT trial.PMID:38573708 | DOI:10.1158/1078-0432.CCR-23-3952 (Source: Clinical Cancer Research)

Biomedicine and pharmacotherapeutic effectiveness of combinatorial atorvastatin and quercetin on diabetic nephropathy: An in vitro study
CONCLUSION: Nevertheless, there is currently no existing literature that reports on the role of QCT as a combination renoprotective drug with statins in the context of diabetic nephropathy. Hence, these findings suggest that atorvastatin and quercetin may have clinical potential in treating diabetic nephropathy.PMID:38574626 | DOI:10.1016/j.biopha.2024.116533 (Source: Biomedicine and pharmacotherapy = Biomedecine and pharmacotherapie)

Effects of Saikosaponin-A on Insulin Resistance in Obesity: Computational and Animal Experimental Study
In conclusion, our study suggests that SSA may serve as a therapeutic agent for addressing the metabolic complications associated with obesity. This potential therapeutic effect is attributed to the suppression of inflammatory cytokines and the upregulation of FGF21 and ATG7.PMID:38569867 | DOI:10.1248/cpb.c23-00782 (Source: Chemical and Pharmaceutical Bulletin)

Obicetrapib as an Adjunct to Stable Statin Therapy in Japanese Subjects: Results from a Randomized Phase 2 Trial
CONCLUSIONS: All doses of obicetrapib taken as an adjunct to stable statin therapy significantly lowered atherogenic lipoprotein lipid parameters, showed near complete elimination of drug by 4 weeks, and were safe and well tolerated in a Japanese population, similar to previous studies of obicetrapib conducted in predominantly Caucasian participants.PMID:38569868 | DOI:10.5551/jat.64828 (Source: Journal of Atherosclerosis and Thrombosis)
